XICLONE PAGE 4 An Unforgettable Year Undergraduates Committed to Iowa Xi Success T he men of Iowa Xi have many good things to look back on this year and even more to look forward to in the coming school year. Changing COVID-19 guidelines have caused many twists and turns throughout the semester, but the future looks bright. The University has confirmed that next semester will be almost completely back to normal, including all in-person classes. Recruitment Update The Greek community took a hit in recruitment participation numbers during the last few semesters. However, with fewer men participating, our recruitment team was able to spend more time with each potential new member. This increased focus ensures we are signing quality young men who will invest their time and energy in our chapter. This mindset will translate well into summer recruitment with fewer pandemic guidelines. We are expecting our upcoming fall numbers to be some of our best ever! Academic Success During the past few semesters our executive board has focused on improving our standings in academics in the Greek community. Our spring 2021 cumulative chapter GPA was 3.24, which placed us 10th among fraternities on campus. This is a huge jump from our previous semesters and might be the first time in the history of Iowa Xi that we have placed in the top 10 (certainly in the last 40- 50 years according to alumni we have spoken to). For the coming semesters, we can only expect to keep moving up in the rankings based on the success of the underclassmen. Campus Involvement The men of Phi Kappa Theta have been solidifying our spot as a big house on campus. Our pairing with Alpha Phi and Alpha Kappa Lambda won two awards for Greek Week this semester: second place in overall spirit and best theme for Polar Plunge. Overall, Greek Week was a great success, and we cannot wait to see what happens next semester during Homecoming. We are paired with Alpha Kappa Lambda and Alpha Chi Omega and hope to bring home plenty more awards. Our goal is to keep this momentum going into next year. With eager members and a very strong brotherhood, we plan to continue our success and keep creating a bright future for Iowa Xi.
