T he Alumni Board would like to commend the undergraduate chapter for their academic successes this past year, as well as overcoming the many challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. It takes excellent leadership and quality men to accomplish those kinds of achievements. We are excited to announce that we are planning a full Homecoming celebration on October 23. As in past years, we are reserving a space outside of the stadium grounds to host a tailgate. At the last Homecoming celebration in 2019, we announced the incredibly generous legacy gift left for Iowa Xi by Jim Victor '68. This year at the Homecoming annual alumni meeting, the board will present the key next steps we are taking. They are based on recommendations from the Victor Gift Committee (VGC). The VGC and the Alumni Board consider Jim's legacy gift an opportunity to transform Iowa Xi. One of the primary business items at the Homecoming annual meeting will be elections for all board positions, as well as appointments. The new Iowa Xi organization includes leadership and service opportunities for more alumni. All positions, elected and appointed, are 3-year terms. Before the end of an incumbent's term, they may opt to run for election again or renew their appointment. They may choose to pursue other leadership and service opportunities within Iowa Xi. This allows alumni of all ages to remain active in Iowa Xi regardless of the amount of time they have to offer. You may choose to volunteer for events or programs, serve on a committee, or serve in elected or appointed leadership positions on committees or boards. This is an excellent opportunity to include more alumni in the organization, generate fresh ideas, and improve our effectiveness in operations. The new Iowa Xi organization has three separate entities: the Iowa Xi Alumni Chapter, the Iowa Xi Foundation, and the Iowa Xi Building corporation. There are about 50 open positions we are looking to fill; several candidates have already been identified for key positions.
