She previously served the Chapter as risk management chairman and as VP of Chapter development. She lives in Tuscaloosa, Ala., where she grew up. "I continue to volunteer because every time I attend a meeting or event, I am endlessly impressed by the women in Delta Delta Delta," Mallie said. "They are accomplished and impressive women who are learning real-world skills that will serve them well in their futures." Jamie Parks Cruce, Jacksonville '05, is the recruitment events advisor. She lives in Atlanta, Ga. Jamie said, "I have been involved in volunteering at Harbor House, an assisted living facility for adults with developmental disabilities. Although I served here in college, I started volunteering there in elementary school. I also was involved with volunteering with fine arts programs in the Tallahassee area. Additionally, I served as a mentor for students with disabilities at Florida State. "When I started graduate school at the University of Alabama, I did not know anyone. A family friend connected me with the Delta Mu Chapter so I could meet fellow DDD sisters and get to know others in Tuscaloosa; I definitely gained more than I ever expected! It was like I had a new family instantly. The women of Delta Mu and members of the local alumnae chapter have always been there for me, and I have made some dear lifelong friends. It would have been very difficult to make it through graduate school and successfully write my master's thesis without this strong support system! I'm forever grateful and love giving back to this Chapter that gave so much to me." Argie Oman McDonald '84 is the recruitment/ reference advisor. She lives in Birmingham, Ala., and grew up in Nashville, Tenn. As a collegian, she was known as someone who helped others whenever needed. Argie volunteers "because Tri Delta was important to me and my two daughters. I thought it would be a way that I could give back. I have gotten to share the DDD sisterhood with Neil and Elaine. That is the best reason of all!" All of this is tied together by Jennie Kimbrough King '70. She pledged as a sophomore, having attended Hollins College her freshman year. She was assistant treasurer followed by treasurer, back when there were only a handful of officers. Tri Delta had the largest membership of any sorority on campus with 110 members. Jennie grew up in Linden, Ala., and now divides her time between Aliceville and Tuscaloosa. She has served as president of the Tuscaloosa Alumnae Chapter and on the House Corporation board. She transitioned to the Chapter side around 2013 and served as financial advisor; a year later she became AA. She is an advisory board chairman and advises the executive and conduct standing committees. Jennie said, "My desire to serve in an advising position with Tri Delta was because it dovetailed with my position as career consultant at the university. I noted that Delta Delta Delta is so much more than three words on a resume to most of its members. I wanted the membership to appreciate and understand that the lifetime commitment is a two-way street. I wanted to share my knowledge and experiences, support the individual memberships and the organization, and give back to an organization that has meant so much to me. Volunteering has no monetary rewards. Just hearing, 'Thank you for your time and advice,' is worth millions to a volunteer." Alumnae Advisors (Continued from page 3) Looking for New Advisors! Delta Mu is looking for alumnae who are willing to serve the Chapter in an advisory role. If you're interested, please contact Jennie Kimbrough King '70 at (205) 454-0261 or jenniekking@ gmail.com for more information.
