2A Daily News – Tuesday, May 14, 2013 Community people&events Ehorn's Golden Celebration Ralph and Joanne Ehorn recently celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 2013 at Bethel Assembly East Room with friends and relatives in attendance. It was hosted by her sister Grace Hagan of Roseville, and long time friends Zelda Ebenhack, Dianne Benefield and Rita Hoofard. Master of ceremonies was Dennis Benfield, brotherin-law from Redding. The songs "The Twelfth of Never" and "Memories" were sang and played by Gary Conner, long time friend. Special guests were nephew Glenn Wilson, his wife Mary Ellen and children Mikalea, Terra and Trinity from Rocklin. The Ehorn's wedding photographs from their original wedding, their 25th wedding anniversary were also on display. Some of the guests attending also attended their wedding in 1963. I have seen Shonda from time to time at sporting events, I noticed her because she is exceptionally pretty. Most recently, I noticed Shonda because of her inner beauty. This past week, I have had the honor and great pleasure to sit with a life-long family friend as she passes from this world to the glorious ever-after. In doing so, I have engaged with Shonda. Shonda works at Brentwood rehabilitation facility where she helps residents and their families deal with whatever situation they are in, whether it be rehabilitation, a safe home or a dignified place to transition from this life. Compassion is not something that comes easily for everyone. Sometimes people are scared, hardened or otherwise affected by life in such a way that they do not have the ability to outwardly show softer emotions. Many people will recognize the Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt pattern as a beautiful, but time consuming and advanced undertaking, pieced together entirely by hand. Of course, once again her mom was there to coach and make sure "those stitches weren't too big or else out they came!" Lois has lovingly kept this first quilt for many years, a quilt that although a little tattered, she can't bear to part with.
