october 18-24, 2020 What's up! 47 Reduced guilt treats with all the crunch, fewer calories and fat Air fried delights try theserecipes Air Fryer Churros Ingredients • ¼ cup butter • ½ cup milk • 1 pinch salt • ½ cup all-purpose flour • 2 large eggs • ¼ cup white sugar • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon Directions 1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Pour in milk and add salt. Lower heat to medium and bring to a boil, continuously stirring with a wooden spoon. Quickly add flour all at once. Keep stirring until the dough comes together. 2. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 to 7 minutes. Mix in eggs with the wooden spoon until pastry comes together. Spoon dough into a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe dough into strips straight into the air fryer basket. 3. Air fry churros at 340 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 5 minutes. 4. Meanwhile combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and pour onto a shallow plate. 5. Remove fried churros from air fryer and roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Air Fryer Fries Ingredients • 1 pound potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch sticks (straight or ruffle cut) • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil • ¼ teaspoon salt • 1/4 teaspoon seasoning (ideas below), or more to taste Directions 1. Cover potatoes with water and let soak for 30 minutes. Drain and pat dry with paper towels. Drizzle with oil; toss to coat. 2. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). 3. Arrange potatoes in a double layer in the fryer basket. Cook, tossing every 5 minutes, until golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes. Sprinkle with salt and desired seasoning. Three seasoning ideas: • 1/2 teaspoon crushed dried rosemary and 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt • 1 tablespoon parsley, 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese, and 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese and 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika Air Fryer Apple Fritters Ingredients • cooking spray • 1 cup all-purpose flour • ¼ cup white sugar • ¼ cup milk • 1 egg • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder • 1 pinch salt • 2 tablespoons white sugar • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon • 1 apple - peeled, cored, and chopped Glaze: • ½ cup confectioners' sugar • 1 tablespoon milk • ½ teaspoon caramel extract (such as Watkins™) • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon Directions 1. Preheat an air fryer to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place a parchment paper round into the bottom of the air fryer. Spray with nonstick cooking spray. 2. Mix flour, 1/4 cup sugar, milk, egg, baking powder, and salt together in a small bowl. Stir until combined. 3. Mix 2 tablespoons sugar with cinnamon in another bowl and sprinkle over apples until coated. Mix apples into the flour mixture until combined. 4. Drop fritters using a cookie scoop onto the bottom of the air fryer basket. 5. Air-fry in the preheated fryer for 5 minutes. Flip fritters and cook until golden, about 5 minutes more. 6. Meanwhile, mix confectioners' sugar, milk, caramel extract, and cinnamon together in a bowl. Transfer fritters to a cooling rack and drizzle with glaze. Courtesy allrecipes.com
