September 6-12, 2020 What'S up! 47 A juicy, carmelized, unexpected twist for your weekend barbecue Fruit meets flame try theserecipes Grilled Blue Cheese Pears Ingredients • ¼ cup hot pepper sauce • 1 teaspoon olive oil • 4 medium pears, halved lengthwise and cored • ¼ cup crumbled blue cheese • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, room temperature Directions 1. Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate. 2. Whisk the hot sauce and olive oil together in a separate bowl. Brush the flesh side of each pear half evenly with the mixture; place on preheated grill with the skin side on the grill. Stir the blue cheese and butter together in a small bowl; scoop even amounts of the cheese mixture into the cavity of each pear half. 3. Grill the pears on the preheated grill until soft, 10 to 15 minutes. Grilled Lemon Limeade Ingredients 8 lemons, halved 8 limes, halved 1 lemon, sliced 1 lime, sliced 1 1/2 cup sugar 4 cups water, plus more to taste Directions 1. Heat grill to medium. Put sugar in a saucepan and press each citrus half into the sugar, then set on grill to char, cut side-down, until browned, about 5 minutes. Put the citrus slices on grill and char on each side for 30-60 seconds. 2. Add 2 cups of water to the saucepan containing the sugar and place pan on grill. Whisk until sugar is dissolved and remove from grill. 3. Juice all of the citrus into large pitcher; you'll have about 3 cups. Strain if you wish. Add 2 cups water and the sugar syrup, ½ cup at a time, until the limeade is to your desired sweetness. Add more water if you'd like, then pour over ice and garnish each glass with a grilled citrus slice. Barbecued Bananas Ingredients 4 medium bananas 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 cup brown sugar 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 2 cups vanilla ice cream Directions 1. Preheat grill for low heat. 2. Halve each of the bananas lengthwise, then widthwise. Sprinkle bananas with lemon juice. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll banana pieces in sugar/cinnamon mixture until well coated. 3. Lightly oil the grill grate. Arrange bananas on preheated grill, and cook for 3 minutes per side. Serve in a bowl with vanilla ice cream topped with a sprinkling of remaining cinnamon/sugar mixture. Yum! Courtesy allrecipes.com
