I protest by nature because there are always two sides to an issue, and the side I naturally land on almost al- ways requires protest. I have learned in the last two years of participating in town government that voices on both sides not only need to be heard, but acted upon. I have enjoyed the experience of lis- tening to objections to what govern- ment does, and then asking govern- ment to consider another view or take alternate action. Working with Quartzsite Town Hall and Council has been an educa- tion in public service. What I learned about the process of governing is that answers that work come through concerned dialogue and honest dis- cussion of issues. A give and take of opinion is essential in making deci- sions. Allowing a disagreement and valuing another experience keeps discussion vibrant and productive. The time I spent on the Planning and Zoning Board exposed me to the importance of keeping our code and regulations up to date. That process is ongoing and challenging to all of us and needs input from the public. I enjoy taking part in school ac- tivities and supporting the young people. I participated in Town's booth at La Paz County Fair giv- ing information about the progress Quartzsite is making. And Buck Connor Days was an opportunity to meet people from all over the coun- try as visitors to Quartzsite. As a Town Council candidate for an upcoming term I intend to en- sure continued participation for your voice and interest in the town of Quartzsite. The best part of learning is sharing what is learned with you, the residents of this town. Voting for these ideas is a vote for me - Karey Amon. SEE CANDIDATES PAGE 12
