Congratulations. You have come to the end of your high school journey in a most eventful way. Your senior year will be remembered forever. You may have heard of the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, but there is also a tower that is leaning in San Francisco. It is called the Millennium Tower. This tower was built in 2008, it's a 58 stor y skyscraper, but it is crooked. The problem exists because engineers did not dig the foundation deep enough. Because of the poor foundation, modifications are needed to keep the structure from falling over in the event of an ear thquake. The cost to correct this error is higher than it was to build the building. The lesson is that foundations matter; not only in buildings but in life. When the foundation is weak the inevitable happens, you will tumble over. From early on you were taught the "5 R's" of Cross Creek. Respect, Relevance, Relationships, Rigor, and Responsibility. You were given many responsibilities during your four years at Cross Creek. You completed 4 years of high school curriculum in just over 2 years, taking your first college credit course as a freshman and two college courses as a sophomore. As juniors you were enrolled in 12-15 college credit hours per semester along with a high school class, and finally as seniors, most of you tackled 15-18 hours per semester. Your foundation has been formed strong. This spring, the pandemic interrupted our year. You had already star ted preparing for the prom, senior week, FSU final exams and the grand finale your graduation. You would have never thought you would finish your senior year with online learning. But you did it, because your foundation was made strong and deep. You built strong relationships, had relevant experiences, engaged in rigorous work without face-to-face instruction, and accepted the change with respect, and taking responsibility to succeed in adversity. Your foundation is strong and you will accomplish great things that even a pandemic cannot hold back. College began here for each of you, but this is not where it ends. You have a great head star t on your college degree; keep dreaming, keep striving and always focus on today 's goals as you look to tomorrow. Blessings to each of you.
