Join the VFW Post 769 in Quartzsite, December 7th, 2019 from 11am-3pm. Our post is having a Family Freedom Christmas Festival, an event which is open to the pub- lic. We will have food, music and a chance to make gifts for your family and friends. We are inviting local venders and businesses to also join us and show/ sell their products in supporting this community event. Bring fam- ily and friends and join us for a fun time for all. Norma Jean Crooks passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona after a long ill- ness. She was born on July 9, 1948 in San Pedro, California to Eileen and Donald Martin. She is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 38 years, Darrell Crooks; three children, Ron (Tiffany) Probert, Debbie Probert, and Ricky Probert; two sisters, Donna Kuhnly and Sharon Dunn; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two nieces and a great niece and nephew; three step-children with many grandchil- dren and great grandchildren. Norma's life and passion was to serve others, which included being an advocate for children with special needs. Norma drove a school bus for the Buena Park and Riverside Cali- fornia school districts and also managed a motel in Riverside. Norma's passion also extended to serving her communities. She worked with the FBI to uncover a corruption scheme in Pahrump, Nevada; she served on the La Paz County Grand Jury; she served as a member of the Western Norma Jean Crooks 1948-2019 Craft Fair 1st Sat. of every month! Her dedication to serving the citizens of Quartzsite overrode local politics. For sixteen years, Norma and Dar- rell traveled the United States in their converted Eagle bus. They had homes in Riverside, California, Wil- liams, Oregon, and Pahrump, Ne- vada before settling in Quartzsite, Arizona. There are no services planned at this time. A Stand Down/Resource Fair is being planned for Quartzsite Area Homeless Veterans and Others. The event will take place Friday, Dec. 13th, 2019 from 10am to 3pm Location: The Old Ted's Truck Stop, 965 W.
