12 Northwest Arkansas Basketball Sunday, November 3, 2019 TY STEVENS CLASS: Junior HEIGHT: 6-2 WEIGHT: 187 POSITION: Guard HOMETOWN: Republic, Mo. HIGH SCHOOL: Republic LAST SEASON: Averaged 1.5 points. THE SKINNY: Stevens is a walk-on who played two minutes in two games last season. He scored all three of his points on the season on a three-point play in the Razorbacks' 84-48 victory at Vanderbilt. He joined the Razorbacks after walk-on tryouts in the fall of 2018. ISAIAH JOE CLASS: Sophomore HEIGHT: 6-5 WEIGHT: 175 POSITION: Guard HOMETOWN: Fort Smith HIGH SCHOOL: Northside LAST SEASON: Averaged 13.9 points and 2.8 rebounds. THE SKINNY: Joe hit 113 3-pointers last season to set an Ar- kansas school record and SEC freshman record. His 41.4% on 273 3-point attempts led the SEC. He hit 60 3-pointers against SEC teams. With Arkansas' lack of size, Joe's perimeter shoot- ing should play an even larger role on the team this season. He scored a career-high 34 points against Florida International. Also a strong defender, Joe led the Razorbacks with 51 steals and 27 charges taken. DESI SILLS CLASS: Sophomore HEIGHT: 6-1 WEIGHT: 196 POSITION: Guard HOMETOWN: Jonesboro HIGH SCHOOL: Jonesboro LAST SEASON: Averaged 5.3 points and 1.3. THE SKINNY: Sills became a major contributor late last season. Starting the final eight games, he averaged 10.1 points and hit 18 of 28 3-pointers. He scored a career-high 18 points before fouling out in the Razorbacks' season-ending 63-60 loss at Indi- ana and scored 15 at Kentucky. For the season Sills hit 29 of 63 3-pointers (46.0%). He needs to improve his ball-handling after having 58 assists compared to 53 turnovers last season. He's also a strong defender. REGGIE CHANEY CLASS: Sophomore HEIGHT: 6-8 WEIGHT: 222 POSITION: Forward HOMETOWN: Tulsa, Okla. HIGH SCHOOL: Findlay Prep, Henderson, Nev. LAST SEASON: Averaged 5.4 points and 3.5 rebounds. THE SKINNY: Chaney will play a major role as the Razorbacks' most talented big man. He'll be counted on for increased playing time after averaging 16.3 minutes last season. He shot 55.3% from the field (83 of 150) last season while scoring mostly around the basket, but has worked to improve his mid-range jumper. He moves well for a big man and has shown the ability to defend guards as well as forwards. It's critical he stay out of foul trouble given Arkansas' lack of size. ETHAN HENDERSON CLASS: Sophomore HEIGHT: 6-8 WEIGHT: 210 POSITION: Forward HOMETOWN: Little Rock HIGH SCHOOL: Parkview LAST SEASON: Averaged 0.9 points and 1.0 rebounds. THE SKINNY: Henderson played in only 51 minutes in 12 games last season, but given a shot in the Razorbacks' NIT game at Providence, he came through with six points and five rebounds in 18 minutes. If Henderson shows he's ready, he could play a more significant role this season because he's the tallest eligible scholarship player on the team along with Reggie Chaney. CONNOR VANOVER CLASS: Sophomore HEIGHT: 7-3 WEIGHT: 225 POSITION: Forward HOMETOWN: Little Rock HIGH SCHOOL: Findlay Prep, Henderson, Nev. LAST SEASON: Averaged 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 rebounds at California. THE SKINNY: Arkansas has appealed to the NCAA for a waiver to allow Vanover to be eligible this season as he transferred from Cal, but as of press time there had been no decision on his status announced. If the waiver is denied, Vanover will redshirt this season and have three seasons of eligibility remaining. In his last 10 games at Cal as a freshman, he averaged 12.8 points and 5.0 rebounds. He scored a career-high 24 points against Stanford. Courtesy of University of Arkansas NWA Democrat-Gazette File Photo/J.T.
