DELTA TAU DELTA PAGE 3 P lans for our new Shelter are progressing and remain on schedule. The 31,000-square-foot, three-story concrete and masonry structural plans are around 60% complete as we are working on finish details of the room. A realistic construction cost is being established now that we have plans that represent the finished product. I would like to give a special shout-out to the following Delts for their help with production of the plans: • Tim Dolf '79 (structural) • Dennis Luckenbill '65 (mechanical, plumbing, and electrical) • Aaron Campbell '05 (electrical) • James Hazzard '14 (landscaping) • Mason Strom '16 (IT) • Chris Katz '97 (Midwest Wrecking) Several alumni have donated in-kind gifts toward construction, such as volunteering their time or giving actual material items. If you would like to make an in-kind donation toward the new Shelter, please let us know. These gifts greatly help keep the overall costs down. Timing is important now as we are aiming to begin construction in the second week of May. If you would like to share your thoughts on this project, please contact my office by phone or email. Memory lane in this case happened to be University Avenue on OSU's campus. Greg was blown away by some of the new Greek houses he drove by and couldn't be more excited for the Delta Chi Shelter to be added to that list. "To see these other houses that are going up, it's like, "Wow! Look at this place. To know that we're taking the leap and we've got such great response already," Greg said. "It's just right around the corner. I'm super fired up about that. It's going to be a great Shelter for future classes. I think the Delts are going to be able to turn a page and really start to grow again." Greg contributed to Delta Chi's capital campaign to help ensure a top-notch Shelter at OSU for years to come. He's encouraging other Delt alumni to take a trip down memory lane just like he did. "I would ask them to just try to remember back in time. When we first got there, they had redone the old wing of the house and made it new," Greg said. "It's one of those things where you've got to pay it forward. It's a build-it-and-they-will-come type of thing. I think we've got to give back and get the house where it's competitive, so that for the next 10-15 years it's the place to be." The Delt social events and attending OSU sporting events with his brothers comprised many of Greg's favorite memories from college. He's hopeful the active members will have a lot of the same experiences he had and encourages them to reach out to Delt alumni as they're exploring job opportunities. "I don't know a guy who wouldn't take a phone call from a Delt member and just try to help them out and give them some guidance," Greg said. Greg's connections at OSU were vital to getting him where he is today as the president and CEO of Catalyst Financial Group. The team-building experiences Greg garnered from Delta Chi are ones he's glad he can always look back on. "I happened to work with a guy right out of college and he was actually an investment guy. I worked for his wife selling medical equipment and he's like, look, we've got some opportunities over here to be a stock broker," Greg said. "That kind of piqued my interest. I had a lot of contacts, so I thought I could do well in something like that and utilize my relationships and help people with their finances, which is something everybody should do." In Greg's free time, he enjoys golfing, traveling, and going to his lake house at Grand Lake with his family. As construction begins on the new Shelter, he can't wait for more trips down memory lane. A fter visiting the Shelter this past May, Robert Triplett '93 knew he had to do something to support Delta Chi's efforts in building a new facility. Rob joined Delta Tau Delta after connecting with several of the brothers and developed strong friendships during his experience. However, he always felt the Shelter wasn't as appealing as other top-tier houses on campus. Then a recent visit sparked Rob's decision to become financially involved in the Pledge Delt Again campaign. "My motivation is about fixing a situation that has needed attention for a long time," Rob said. "With this project, our future brothers will feel a sense of pride about the Shelter, and it will be a great tool for attracting high-quality young men to our brotherhood." Rob encourages Delt alumni to remember their time at the Shelter and consider what they're willing to do for the brotherhood. "The house is where memories are created and anchored," Rob said.
