WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM OCTOBER 30-NOVEMBER 5, 2019 UCW 27 WEEKLY HOROSCOPE NEWS OF THE WEIRD by the Editors at Andrews McMeel Syndication Ironies While patrolling a Bath and Body Works store in Waukesha, Wisconsin, an unnamed security guard let the boredom get to him. Around 2 a.m. on Oct. 11, he slipped his handcuffs on — then realized he'd left the keys at home. Forced to call police, who responded and freed him from his restraints, the bored guard then hid the cuffs from himself so he wouldn't be tempted to put them on again. According to WDJT, he told police it wasn't the first time he had hand- cuffed himself without having the keys. Awesome It was W.C. Fields who said, "Never work with animals or children." Russian President Vladimir Putin was reminded of that warning on Oct. 14 as he visited King Salman of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh. The Daily Mail reported that Pu- tin brought along a gyrfalcon named Alpha for the king, and as everyone admired the bird during the ceremonial exchange of gifts, it chose that moment to take aim on the plush royal carpet and, shall we say, leave its mark. Hunting with birds of prey is one of the favorite pastimes of Saudi royalty, and the birds are highly prized. 21st-century religion Hoping to attract tech- savvy young Catholics to tra- ditional rituals, the Vatican has released the eRosary, a wearable device connected to an app available for $110, reported engadget. Worn as a bracelet, the device is activat- ed by making the sign of the cross and features 10 beads and a data-storing "smart cross," which will help the devout pray a standard rosa- ry, a contemplative rosary or a thematic rosary and keeps track of each rosary prayed. The app also downloads health information from the bracelet. Question : Will David James El- liott and Catherine Bell make future appearances on "NCIS: Los Angeles?" I still miss "JAG" and I'm sure many others do too. Their final scene in the Sept. 29 episode left me with two possible interpretations. — Tom Matt Roush : I'm sure you're far from alone. They obviously left the door open for either more appearances from Harm and Mac, or even a "JAG" re- boot/spinoff — which would take the franchise full circle, since "NCIS" originally spun off from "JAG" way back in 2003. Nothing has been announced, whether more guest shots as a backdoor pilot or an actual revival, but given the response, I'd be surprised if this is the last we've seen of them. To submit questions to T V Crit- ic Matt Roush, go to: tvinsider. com. by Damian Holbrook Cheers to "Riverdale" for its perfect Luke Perry tribute. The teen soap hit pause on its usual cults and speakeasies to honor the late actor in an hour that gave his Fred Andrews a fittingly heroic end and fans a heartbreaking, cathartic way to say goodbye. Jeers to "The G ood Place" for replacing Eleanor (Kristen Bell) with Simone (Kirby Howell- Baptiste) in Chidi's (William Jackson Harper) heart. Now that his mind has been erased and a new "soulmate" has stepped in, we have a bad feeling that Good's last season may keep our favorite couple apart for- ever.
