LS: Where did Alpha Omicron stage their recruitment? RC: The Wesley Foundation Student Center at the corner of University and Washington. For those of you who have not seen their new building, it is beautiful! LS: What was the overall mood of recruitment this year? RC: The women were excited to be together and engaged in the new recruitment programming being rolled out across ADPi. The RMVP (Recruitment & Marketing Vice President) Sarah Shepard '18 and the FRC (Formal Recruitment Chairman) Lauren Chase '17 and their team did an amazing job of planning and executing Spirit Week and recruitment, making sure they used time well and interjected as much fun as possible. LS: What changes to the recruitment process did you have to make to compensate for not having a Chapter house? RC: Not nearly as many as one would think. The main compensation came on "House Tour" Day. Since we couldn't provide an actual house tour, we used the beautiful video of our new home developed by Kristen Grant Check '06 and her design team at Guernsey. We also used several poster boards with layout designs of the house throughout the week. LS: What challenges did you face and how did you deal with those obstacles? RC: The main challenge we faced was feeding the Delta members! Fortunately, our amazing Pi sisters from the Stillwater Alumnae Association stepped up and donated their time and organizational skills. We truly cannot thank them enough! The advisory team and the Deltas were able to focus on the mechanics of recruitment knowing this was taken care of. LS: Were there any unforeseen benefits? RC: Our PNMs (Potential New Members) were able to wait for the parties to start in the air conditioning! As we can all recall, recruitment in August is HOT, and getting to line up inside before going into our parties was a definite unforeseen bonus for our PNMs. There was also a coffee shop that PNMs could grab drinks from. LS: How was the lack of a Chapter house viewed by prospective members? RC: The Executive Board has worked diligently in the past year to view this year as an opportunity, not as a challenge. The Deltas are excited for their new home, and were excited to share it with the PNMs. From the feedback we've received, the Alphas are excited about the new house too! LS: How were the plans/designs for the new house received by prospective members? RC: Having the design video really helped them to visualize our future house. They were received very well by members and PNMs alike. LS: How did you maintain the feeling of sisterhood and were there any special activities for our Delta members? RC: The recruitment team and Spirit and Sisterhood Chairmen worked hard to work fun into the weeks. There were themed days during Spirit Week, a pool party at Colvin, karaoke breaks, yoga, and food! LS: What, if anything, will you retain from this experience to use in future recruitment? RC: Perhaps to have meals catered again. Of course, we don't want to wear out our welcome with the Stillwater Alumnae Association; it was a definite labor of love on their part. LS: Anything else that you'd like to add that would be of interest to our alumnae? RC: While Recruitment is a major event for our Delta members, we cannot be successful without the involvement of our Pi members. We appreciated the time and donations given for food and snacks; for the sisters who worked the kitchen for us during parties to ensure everyone had plenty of water; and those who came to the Alumnae Tea to support our Delta members before recruitment to name just a few ways so many ADPi alumnae stepped up to help us this year. AO is fortunate to have a strong, supportive alumnae base. We appreciate the way our alumnae exemplify We Live for Each Other! Their support help us show the Delta members that ADPi is so much more than just four years. Q&A with Recruitment Advisor Rebecca Cole '94 D uring Spirit Week, preceding formal recruitment, Alpha Omicron kept our energy high and sisterhood strong. From yoga classes to special theme days, we emerged stronger than ever. In fact, for our last day of Spirit Week, the Chapter wanted to honor all of the great work that has gone into our beloved Chapter house. Therefore, the theme for the day was construction! Even with our new recruitment program- ming, led by our Recruitment and Marketing Vice President and Formal Recruitment Chairman, Alpha Omicron didn't miss a beat. Despite not having a physical structure to recruit from, we offered a virtual house tour, which was well-received by members and Potential New Members alike. At the end of formal recruitment, Alpha Omicron had the pleasure of introducing 56 new members, four over the requested quota, to the sisterhood. Following suit, we wel- comed seven more new members through the continuous open bidding process. Our recruitment successes and newest Alphas were all celebrated at our sisterhood event at the roller dome. We are excited to share our new home and sisterhood with our newest members! Chapter Welcomes 56 Alphas on Bid Day Spirit Week in front of the Chapter house construction site. 3 Alpha Delta Pi
