The
T
he Indiana Zeta house corporation officers and staff
were busy this summer. Electrical upgrades to support
new air conditioning were installed in the 57-year-old
"new addition." The refinished foyer floor was adorned with
new rugs and specially selected furniture to improve the first
impression upon entering the Chapter House. Parking, alley,
and landscape improvements are also welcoming to visitors.
With the largest fraternity on campus and in an increasingly
more competitive housing environment, our facility and
financial stewardship never sleeps.
As the 2019-20 academic year is now underway and schools
across America roar back to life, we're reminded of the days
when we first arrived at DePauw—and fraternity recruitment
that soon followed. If you came here before the '90s, you
started recruitment just after hauling your gear to your dorm
room. We all still remember the feelings of excitement and
anxiety of discovering fraternities the first few weeks and
months in Greencastle.
Because of the support of alumni, like you, men get the
chance to do it again in the 151st year of Indiana Zeta at
DePauw. New arrivals to Old Gold see Phi Delt first as they
turn into the main campus entrance, and at that moment,
they begin this great journey.
The experience remains rich and meaningful for our men
and alumni volunteers who pitch in year-round. Our Chapter
House parents and university advisors enjoy interacting with
the lively chapter.
The more than 70 men who returned this fall are grateful for
your support and truly enjoy meeting you when you return
to campus for games, lectures, musical performances,
or to bring your own son for a visit! As well, we always
welcome your feedback, involvement, and recruitment
recommendations.
Yours in the Bond,
Chris "CJ" Johnston '83
