last year," Harrison said. "It was always going to be the same thing. We'd be lucky to get into the playoffs. If we did we'd be the five-seed. I guess that's just how every- body I guess just perceived it. It was the same old stuff. I think we're getting to the point now where if we don't make the playoffs I think everybody in the locker- room's going to be really disappointed cause we're not just thinking playoffs, we're thinking about higher seed, getting to host a game, finding a way to get that three, that two, that one, because a couple of rolls and we're there." OFFENSE Quarterback Junior Tyler Brewer (6-4, 201) starts with sophomore Brody Bowen in train- ing. Other backups are his classmates, Noe Avellanda (5-8, 185), who plays receiver and runningback; and tight end Levi Wright (6-4, 215). Runningbacks "At tailback when Cam Brown went down last year in the Westville game, Christian Sellers (6-1, 180) stepped up and had an awesome time, but when Cam came back, Cam got his spot back and so Christian's carries went down," Harrison said. "But he still did an awesome job on carries and this year, no doubt, he's our starting tailback. We're going to give him the ball a lot and we're excited about how hard he's worked." Matthew Sheridan (5-7, 150) and Avel- landa also get in the backfield to carry the ball and they are good to give Sellers a break. Receivers Two of Lincoln's talented athletes, Daytin Davis (6-2, 180) and Eli Rich (6-2, 175), didn't play much last season due to injuries. Both are expected to have an impact this year. Avellanda plays the A, which is Lincoln's slot, and may be utilized as a runner going in motion to the back- field and taking a handoff. Senior Blake Arnold (6-0, 180) rounds out a skilled receiving corps. "Blakc Arnold, who was not supposed to be the starting receiver last year; but when we lost Eli Rich, Blake stepped up and started both ways and had a great year and continued to work at wide receiver," Harrison said. "He had a great off-season, a great spring, a great summer, so Blake Arnold's going to be another guy that's going to be one of our four guys out there all the time." Tight End Wright (6-4, 215) played tight end for the first time as a freshman catching passes from Brewer on the junior high squad. Since then he's developed into a big target with good hands. "We use him a lot for blocking, a lot for play action," Harrison said. "We're real excited about Levi. He might have some of the best hands on the team, softest hands, does a great job of finding space." Offensive Line Lincoln returns every starter up front except one from the 2018 playoff team. "We lost Kong Lee and that's pretty much it and Kong was a huge part of our offensive line last year. He was amazing, great kid to coach," Harrison said. Junior Noah Moore (6-0, 185) starts at center with Kris Martinez (5-9, 275) rotat- ing at left guard with junior Audie Ramsey (6-0, 200), who will also play right tackle along with classmate Jose Correa (5-9, 210). Senior Austin Raines (6-0, 240) starts at right guard while senior Conner Brown (6-5, 280) mans the left tackle spot.
