P 4 Congratulations Mayor Ed Foster I was impressed by your statement on your website regarding wanting to bring both sides together and help put an end to this current destructive political climate. It seems that you understand we cannot accomplish what needs to be done unless we all work together. Now prove it. “THE PEOPLE’S VOICE” Letters to Editor Policy Desert Messenger encourages letters from its readers. Letters should be no longer than 300 words, and may be ed- ited for grammar, content and length. We invite you to not only see a problem, but search for the solution to share with the community, keeping the benefit of all in mind. Letters considered libelous, in poor taste, on a personal issue, mean spirited or dominated by Scripture quotes will not be published. To avoid confusion over people with common or similar names, writers must provide a full name and indicate the name they are known by. Writers must provide a full street address and phone number. Rvers can provide the location of park/BLM land, etc. Street addresses will not be published. Phone numbers are for verification only and will not be printed. You could have no better legacy than to be known as the mayor who finally helped our town to come together. If you can do that I’ll be a big supporter and will do whatever I can to help you bring the sides together. On the other hand you can choose to use this opportunity to rip Quartzsite apart. The ball is in your court. If you use choose to use this opportunity to rip the town apart, then you really do not care about the town of Quartzsite. I was saddened to see banners an- nouncing future recalls on cars parked in front of town hall BEFORE the meet- ing. And was even more saddened to hear a number of your most vocal sup- porters vow from the podium to recall all of the current council members. There is no question the vicious cycle we are in will limit EVERY candidate for Council or Mayor to six months before they are recalled. That will drive away good people from being candidates. Enough is Enough! Mayor Foster, if you are sincere about wanting to help Quartzsite, then I chal- lenge you to reason with your support- ers so we can all work together to solve these difficult issues ahead of us instead of spending all our energy fighting a battle that will never be won, ever. Ron Jones Quartzsite Resident Kudos to Jonathon Garcia and friend One the afternoon of Monday, May J 2, 2010 its little tail high in the air! It was then I realized it wasn’t a baby squirrel at all; it was a little baby chipmunk. But nevertheless, it was an animal in dis- tress, and these boys had saved it! The fireman was also so pleased with the way the boy handled the rescue. I asked the boy his name, and I suggested to him that perhaps when he got older, he might like to be a fireman so he could continue to be of help in bad situations. I’m pleased to be able to tell this little story with had a happy ending. Joanne Robinson, Quartzsite 17, 2010, as I was walking my dog in Q Mountain Vista, I saw two young boys standing on a corner, looking down into an approx. 6” diameter pipe in the ground. I was curious, so as I neared the corner where they were standing, I asked them what they were looking at. The younger of the two boys said there Learn Spanish by September TE VEO EN SEPTIEMBRE is some- was a baby squirrel trapped in the pipe. I looked down the pipe but it was so dark I could see nothing. So the young boy said he would drop a small piece of gravel down the pipe (the pipe was about 15-20” deep) and then perhaps the “squirrel” would move so I could see it. I still couldn’t see it. The boy told me he had very good eyes, and he surely did. I asked the older boy to please take J & S COVERS Custom Shade Screens for Your Deck, Windows, Patios, & RV Awnings FREE ESTIMATES! I showed the tongs to the fire- man; the boy reached out for the tongs and it appeared he knew exactly what to do. He said that he’d be able to grab the tail of the “squirrel” with the tongs, which he promptly did. He pulled the animal out of the hole; the older boy told him to drop it gently on the ground which he did. The “squirrel” ran away so fast with the leash of my dog and I would run on home (just around the corner) and call the Fire Department because they would know what to do. I got home, called the Fire Department and also brought back with me a long pair of kitchen tongs (I should also have brought a flashlight, but I didn’t think of it). By the time I got back to the “hole”, thing I want to comprehend easily and effortlessly by September...Spanish by September...that’s my contribution to our community that is growing in the Spanish language.
