J 2, 2010 .DM. Undercover arrest in PARKER- For the past 18 months the La Paz County Task Force has been in- vestigating the illegal sales of tobacco (cigarettes) from the Copperstate RV and Mobile Home Park, in Ehrenberg, AZ. According to Investigators, the owner/manager of the Park, Doyle Thompson, has been trafficking large quantities of unstamped and illegal “Seneca” brand cigarettes from the Copperstate Office. During the course of the 18 month investigation, undercover officers and confidential informants purchased anything from a single pack of ciga- rettes to a case at any given time from Thompson. On May 19th 2010, the undercover officer assigned to the case made one last cigarette purchase from Doyle Thompson at his Copperstate Office. At the conclusion of the pur- chase, Thompson was placed under ar- rest for several Felony Counts includ- ing the sale of approximately 91,800 cigarettes overall. The “Seneca Nation Tribes” which produces the “Seneca” brand Ciga- rettes, has not entered into an agree- ment with the State of Arizona regard- ing the sales of their tobacco products, therefore, it is illegal to sell their prod- ucts within our State. It is also illegal to sell unstamped cigarettes. Due to the vast size of the Copper- state complex and other properties in- volved, the La Paz County Task Force was assisted by other Agencies to en- sure a safe and effective operation. This operation would not have been successful without the assistance from the Department of Interior, the Quartz- site Police Department, the Parker Po- lice Department, the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office, the Lake Havasu City Police Department, the Department of Public Safety Vehicle Theft Task Force and the U.S. Border Patrol. On May 20th 2010, Doyle Thompson Ehrenberg appeared before Judge Williams of the Quartzsite Justice Court for “Unlaw- ful Sales of Cigarettes”, “Possession of Methamphetamine” and “Posses- sion of Marijuana”, his bond was set at $100,000. Submitted by Lieutenant Curt Bagby, La Paz County Task Force, 1109 Arizona Ave., Parker, Arizona. 928-669-6681 AWC Summer schedule Summer Classes Starting at AWC Stay inside, stay cool and earn col- lege credits while you’re at it!
