KANSAS SIG page 3 T he Alpha Xi Chapter is proud of its 2018-2019 academic year and all its brothers have accomplished, together and individu- ally, and has high hopes for the upcoming year. At the semester scholarship dinner, attended by alumni and the As- sociate Vice Provost, 36 brothers received a scholarship check from the Alpha Xi endowment fund with four brothers having a 4.0 in the previous semester. Three scholarship awards were created this year to honor significant Alpha Xi alumni and enrich the scholarship experience. The chapter hosted a Red Cross blood drive in collaboration with Kappa Kappa Gamma and will host Hoops for Haley, an annual phil- anthropic basketball tournament, with Pi Beta Phi. Brothers won first prize in Delta Gamma's Anchor Games, which raised $6,500 to Ser- vice for Sight. Brothers are looking forward to the Big Event as an op- portunity to connect to the Lawrence community and Derby Days will be bigger than ever, raising awareness and donations for the Hunts- man Cancer Institute and Folds of Honor. The chapter has successfully implemented new recruitment program- ming using events such as bowling, paintball, and football watch parties as an avenue to meet and get to know potential new mem- bers. Thirty-seven new members were initiated over the 2018-2019 academic year and Recruitment Chairman Jaxon Schulz '21 has high confidence in the incoming pledge class, stating, "I feel that this class is extremely well-rounded, yet are from differing hometowns and backgrounds." The chapter's original musical production, in collaboration with Kappa Kappa Gamma, took home first prize in the 70th annual Rock Chalk Revue. Brothers have actively supported various philanthropies across campus and are very involved in developing Derby Days. Ethan Packel '21 and Sam Hartman '22 were elected to the IFC executive board and are developing new programs and initiatives for all fraternities on campus and aiding the reconstruction of IFC and its operations. Peter Whitney '19 and Brant Pitcairn '19 were chosen to the Rock Chalk Revue Executive Board, which consists of men and women from several fraternities and sororities. Ryan Goodmiller '21 started a weekly bible study with a group of brothers. Jack Renner '21 and Ethan Packel '21 will be attending the Horizon's Leadership Development Experience this summer. Mom's and dad's weekends continue to be extremely popular and well attended. The third annual Alpha Xi Career Building Event was a great opportunity for active brothers to engage in conversation and workshop with alumni in hopes of developing career-building skills and interview knowledge. The inaugural Sweetheart of Sigma Chi Golf Tournament paired alumni and active brothers in groups of four and raised money for the Alpha Xi scholarship fund. Brothers had a dominant season of intramurals, placing first in foot- ball, second in basketball, going undefeated in softball, and winning the Late Night in the Phog 3v3 Basketball Tournament. The active brothers at the Alpha Xi Chapter are extremely grateful for the opportunity to write the next chapter for a brotherhood that has had deep roots and high achievement since its inception. We hope you find the time to drop by and see what it's all about!
