Expansion of Fire District Quartzsite Fire District is in the fi nal steps of completing the District Ex- pansion. The Districts primary focus has always been service to the com- munity. The new District area will encompass areas and communities that have been previously uncovered and meets the goal of the District to pro- vide emergency medical and fi re protection to residents and visitors to the area. Over the last year the District has been collecting signatures and holding meetings in the Brenda and Highway 60 areas. The petitions were turned in to La Paz County and were verifi ed. The Fire District Board voted on the approval and adoption at April 15th regular board meeting. Service to the new area will begin on May 18, 2019. The Fire District currently covers the Town of Quartzsite and the commu- nities of La Paz Valley and Rainbow Acres. This includes large areas of BLM camping areas and sections of Interstate 10 and Highway 95. The District operates out of one station with 13 full time, 3 part-time and 1 administra- tive personnel. In 2018 the District answered 1487 calls for service. The new coverage area and District boundaries will include the following areas: • Interstate 10 - Mile markers 10.8 to 53 • Highway 95 - Mile markers 92.8 to 125 • Highway 60 - I10 to mile marker 49.8 • Highway 72 - Mile markers 37.8 to 49.5 • County 42E - Highway 60 to 69th Ave • McVay and Vicksburg Roads • The communities of Brenda and Vicksburg. The District is in the process of selecting property to place a manned sta- tion in the newly expanded area. The Fire District would like to thank the people that worked so hard to make this possible. Without support from the residents and businesses in the expansion area this would not have been possible. "Unity is strength... when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved." ~Mattie Stepanek
