"Pastor Bruce" then held his fi nal sermon at Quartzsite First Assembly of God Sunday, April 28. He told the congregation he has accepted God's calling and will be evangelizing with his good friends, Dusty and Sandy Guy. Swart was appointed to Town Council on June 13, 2017 for the seat left vacant by the passing of the late councilmember and community leader Carol Kelley earlier that year. He then won his seat in November, 2018 election. His Sunday sermon focused on transition, and being willing to make changes in your life. Pastor Bruce spoke about getting stuck in being "comfortable with the familiar." He shared his excitement about going on the road and wel- coming each day with new wonder. Pastor Bruce has been an active member of this community, serving food to the hungry at Isaiah 58 Project, preaching to prisoners at the county jail. Swart also served as Hi Jolly Cemetery Board Chairperson, and Low Income Representative for Quartzsite with the La Paz County Advisory Council of WACOG (Western Area Council of Governments). After ten years as pastor of the church, he said he will miss the people of the congrega- tion and the community. Swart said he will return to Quartzsite in November at Heaven's Kitchen where he plans to host revivals. Bible Studies will continue at the church Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm. However Sunday services are on hold until a new pastor is found for the Quartzsite First Assembly of God Church.
