P A G E 3 | N O T E S O F T H E L Y R E Phi Chapter Takes Home Rock Chalk Revue Awards Members Set Goal to Raise Record Amount in Support of Domestic Violence Awareness T he past few months have been amazing for our chapter, in many ways. We have strengthened our sisterhood and purpose of becoming Real. Strong. Women. PHILANTHROPY Phi has enjoyed serving our community and our local domestic violence shelter, Willow. Currently, we are working on planning a philanthropy event, Burgers and Fries, with Alpha Chi to raise $15,000 to support Willow and the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation. Our previous philanthropy event, Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi, raised $10,000. This semester we are using ScaleFunder to sell tickets and accept donations, which will allow friends and family from out of town to donate, in hopes of increasing how much we raise. CHAPTER EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES We had a great time during Homecoming Week, where we were paired with Triangle and Alpha Sigma Phi. We performed in the campus musical Rock Chalk Revue with our partner Sigma Kappa. We even won the community service award! We took a self-defense class and enjoyed fun date parties and service events. Our members are involved in Natural Ties and volunteer at the hospital, humane society, nursing homes, and elementary schools around town. Some fun sisterhood events we've had are Halloween cookie decorating, ice skating at Crown Center in Kansas City, a holiday party where BYX Fraternity sang us holiday carols, a Bachelor viewing night at the house, and attending a Royals baseball game. ALUMNAE AND PARENTS SUPPORT IS APPRECIATED Many alumnae and parents visited during Initiation, Parent's Weekend, and the Homecoming football game. We had an Alpha Chi Omega tailgate where chef Mark made brunch and we watched the game together. Additionally, Phi's Parents Club decorated our house for the holidays and put together study snacks during finals week. The chapter appreciates all their contributions and we thank them for their constant love and support! Overall, Phi has had an amazing year. Through academics, philanthropy, recruitment, community relations, and social events we have strengthened our chapter and have had a great time while doing it! We have loved working together to better ourselves and our sisters to be the best we can be and develop into Real. Strong. Women. We plan on building off our success and learning from our mistakes. Thank you to all alumnae and those who make our sorority experience such a positive and memorable one. We invite all to visit KU and drop by our house, so we can meet those who make all this possible!
