Notes of e Lyre PHI CHAPTER OF ALPHA CHI OMEGA | UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS | SPRING 2019 S pring has officially arrived in Lawrence and at Phi Chapter. Campus is beginning to come to life with the grass starting to grow and green up, the trees blooming, and the sun shining with warm weather. With spring also comes Mom's Day, which the ladies enjoyed on April 6. Then soon the school year will be over and then comes summer. Overall, this year has passed quickly, but it has been a fantastic year with the numerous social events, Dad's Day, Homecoming, etc. One of the highlights of the year is that with hard work Alpha Chi Omega made it into Rock Chalk Revue for the second year in a row. This year they paired with Sigma Kappa. Our chapter won three awards: Best Original Song, Community Service, and Best Comedic Performance by Jill Branch, a Sigma Kappa. ALUMNAE GIVE BACK In 2018, we continued to have amazing contributions from the house corporation board and the addition of two new board members. With nearly $3,000 in donations from 31 of our alumnae in 2018, our HCB continues it's goal to provide an amazing home for our members. I truly appreciate each and every person's gift, no matter what form or how much. These young ladies will not only cherish the friendships they have fostered during college, but in the many years to come. Now with social media someone can be across the country but still connect with her sisters in times of joy and sorrow. JOIN US IN LAWRENCE THIS FALL In the fall of 2019, there will be some opportunities to bond with one another. I am hopeful that this season's football record will have more wins in it than last. There are two games that allow alumnae to return to bond with some long-lost friends and watch the Jayhawks hopefully win. Family weekend will be on September 21 where KU will battle against West Virginia. Then Homecoming occurs this year on October 26. ATTEND MOCK RECRUITMENT Finally, mock recruitment will be on August 17 this year. If you remember from the fall newsletter, ΑΧΩ had a fantastic formal fall recruitment. Anna Clovis Ritchie '01 will now be turning over her position to a previous Phi Chapter president, Alyssa Scott '12. If you or a group of ΑΧΩ alumnae would be able to attend, please contact Alyssa at ajadescott94@ gmail.com. We are hoping for an even larger turnout of alumnae to help support our chapter. The house has had some major renovations over the past few years, but the memories and the love and joy of ΑΧΩ are still there. Have a great summer!
