Ties to Tau page 4 JAYME ALBRIGHT '10 Foundation Adviser J ayme was encouraged to be part of the advisery board to be a part of Tau's effort to regain their good standing and find their own view on what makes Tau and Delta Gamma so incredible. She is continuously encouraged by the gains she sees the young women of Tau achieving. When asked what makes Delta Gamma the best sorority, Jayme's answer is simple and powerful. "The women. The women of Delta Gamma are truly unique as individuals, and also driven for a single cause as a group. It's incredible." Jayme's favorite spot to grab a bite in Iowa City when she is visiting is Formosa. Some of her best and greatest times with Tau Chapter were during Initiation. Memorable moment: "My most memorable moment is from my freshman year at Tau. I was having a really hard time adjusting, and almost moved back home until I started thinking about my sisters from ΔΓ. They were the reason I stayed. I am forever grateful for them." Connect with Jayme via email at albrightjayme@gmail.com KIM LANAGHAN, ALPHA LAMBDA '78 Rituals Adviser K im's history with Delta Gamma is longstanding and full of memories. "I was an adviser around 15 years ago at Tau after finding out that several friends in Iowa City were also ΔΓs and they encouraged me to become involved." Initially, Kim helped with recruitment and later became the Honor Board adviser. "After taking many years off, I decided to get reacquainted with Tau because all of my children were grown." Kim has recently retired and felt it was a good time to become involved once again. For Kim, ΔΓ has been the best sorority for her! "There are options that meet every individual's personal needs. I love that I can still connect with sisters 40 years later." Kim is grateful for social media and how easily she can connect to celebrate and also support her sisters whenever needed. Memorable Moments: "The first time I was advising, we were decorating cakes for preference night behind the scenes in the kitchen and I got an amazing feeling of sisterhood with the other alumnae, several that I had just met." Recently, while attending the Initiation ceremony, Kim was delivering the alumnae charge, and it occurred to her that she was initiated 40 years ago. "Reflecting on the wonderful time I have shared with Delta Gamma was very emotional for me." Connect with Kim via email at klanaghan@aol.com Have You Heard the News? Her husband, Jim, passed away a year after moving there, so she was happy to be surrounded by the community. Jane has been active in Delta Gamma at the University of Michigan for more than 30 years— maybe 50! Jane Walker Christensen '52 and her husband are living in an independent retirement home with Lifecare in Waterloo, Iowa. Jane still plays plenty of golf. E-mail: jwcsoc@outlook.com Ann Roberts Scott '53 and her family moved to Clearwater, Fla., in 1953. That September, she joined (but did not affiliate with) the Gamma Theta Chapter at the University of Florida. She was readily welcomed and lived in the house. Although Ann was only at the University of Iowa for one year, it was a wonderful time for her. The sisters at Florida were super substitutes. Ann is a big Gator fan now, but she still roots for the Hawkeyes. Mary Ellen Foss Kimball '61 and her husband, Jim, were in the cast of Ballet Des Moines' Nutcracker Ballet for the second year along with their granddaughter, Madeline. They are both pilots and gave dozens of children free Young Eagles plane rides with their EAA Chapter. Mary Ellen serves on the KSOI-91.9 FM Board and is the community adviser and arts host. She designed the logo for the Iowa Women Pilots 99s Chapter and Regional Fly-In, chairs the Iowa Cultural Trust Board and Iowa State Theatre Company Board, and enjoys viewing The Waiting Room because her paintings and prints appear all throughout the film.
