This might seem sur- prising until you consider every- thing that constitutes play. Play is art, books, movies, music, comedy, fl irting and daydreaming, writes Dr. Brown, founder of the National Institute for Play. We all need a little reminder to take care of ourselves, so I thank my friend for the "gentle" push. Our retired friends know all this, but those of us working all those crazy hours, sometimes we need to be reminded. So consider this your reminder, too. Go Play! A friend of mine recently reminded me that life is not all about work. She told me to get out there and "Go play!" So I took a break and visited the trees in Prescott. Trees were right outside our room. And lots of Trees! Did I mention that I love trees? Springtime brings out the natural urges to get outside. Realizing that the heat will soon be upon us, this time of year is truly a wonderful time to get outside and get things done. As the season winds down, it's also time to regroup and get ready for next season. But, we need to take time to enjoy the desert fl ow- ers, before their blooms fade. Research published in the Jour- nal of Aging Health shows that get- ting outside on a daily basis may help older people stay healthy and functioning longer.
