By Joanne Winer Thanks to a lot of good friends, the annual Party in the Park to celebrate Celia's Rainbow Gardens was held on Mar. 16th, and we had a great crowd with some awesome food and music!! A few glitches did not stop all the fun, and once we fi gured out how to set it up (the cement tables had been moved out from the one end of the dance slab, where we used them to serve and store the food, so we just did what we could to get it done and ended up doing all right!) Thanks to a new friend Kat Lavassaur, who saw the post on Facebook where Lois had put in a request for another grill and volunteers, we had two grills and some extra help, including her hus- band. Other ladies and men came and asked to help and it turned out great.--thank you all so much for volunteering!! The Rock't Band played while we were setting up, and they did some great rock and roll music for those who loved to dance or just listen. Paul was supposed to be there with his guys Mitch and Steve, but at the last minute was unable to make it, so Steve put the call out to some of the people who play in his music circle; Elwood, Clark and Darrell came to fi ll in as well as Nick from Rock't who stayed to help. Paul was very disappointed that he couldn't be there, and wishes to thank everyone who pitched in to make the event such a success. We had a 50/50 raffl e and made $104. And the lady who won the same, gave some back as well. A special thanks goes to Brenda and Mark from Coyote Fresh Foods. The former General Store had helped order and storing food for this event for over 20 years, and now the new owners are carrying on the tradition!! Thank you for all your help. Special thanks to Quartzsite Pub- lic Works staff for all their help this year, too! There were three quilts donated to this event. One was a beautiful Autumn Leaves done by Jean Win- ter, former owner of Shady Lane RV Park, and was won by Dorothy Millett. Another quilt was donated by the Covenant Lutheran Church Quilt Group, won by Lynda D. from Phoenix. The third quilt was a smaller baby quilt or lap quilt, and Barbara Jensen, who had the win- ning ticket, was on her way back north and asked that we re-raffl e it. I will keep it until she gets back in the fall and if she still wants to give it back we will have it for the next raffl e. Thanks again to Jean Winter and the Lutheran Church Quilt Group!! Despite the few glitches, we had a wonderful day with some great music and good food!! Looking forward to next year already!!
