Give Back to Phi Kappa Theta National Fraternity, Iowa Xi Chapter W hen making donations to the national fra- ternity, alumni have an option to desig- nate half of their donation to the local chapter. We would like to encourage all Iowa Xi alumni to "check the box" on the form for donating to the Phi Kappa Theta Foundation. By doing so, you are helping to fund important national pro- grams that make a difference for undergraduates and alumni as well as funding scholarships and infrastructure projects for Iowa Xi. This allows you to make donations at both levels—the na- tional fraternity and Iowa Xi—in one easy do- nation. If you didn't get an alumni appeal from the Foundation recently, you can donate online at https://www.phikaps.org/give. 2019 Marks Memorable Milestones at Iowa Xi D id you know that there are several key an- niversaries in 2019? Iowa Xi is celebrat- ing its 95th anniversary as an active chapter, it is the 60th anniversary of the merger of Phi Kappa and Theta Kappa Phi, and it is the 130th anniversary of the founding of Phi Kappa. In preparation to celebrate our 100th anni- versary in 2024, the alumni board approved a proposal to write a history of Iowa Xi. It will cover key events for the chapter, Iowa State's Greek system, Iowa State, Ames, and the na- tional fraternity from 1920 to the present day. Leo Landis '87 and Greg Stolp '84 will lead a team of volunteers in researching, drafting, editing, and publishing the history. If you are interested in helping the Iowa Xi history team, please contact Leo and Greg at leoelandis@gmail.com and stolpgd@gmail. com, respectively. Brothers traveled south to San Antonio to watch the Iowa State football team play Washington State in the Valero Alamo Bowl. Phi KaPs storm the alamo! He was proud of his work as a board member at The Elaine Clark Center, supporting children with special needs, and was an active member of Buckhead Rotary. He was a member of the Capital City Club and a devout member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He loved the outdoors, fly fishing, hunting, sailing, and walking his dog, Maxx. He especially loved cooking for his friends and family, an avocation he developed as a cook in the National Guard. He was an avid reader of history, particularly the lives of the U.S. presidents.
