Gamma's chapter house burned in the summer of 1966, and brothers saved the clock that was in the house. The follow- ing year, the brothers lived in army barracks and only initiated one new member. The chapter eventually moved back into the house with only 26 brothers, but we did not give up. There were a number of bomb scares and riots during the spring of 1970, but brothers were safe at the house. I married Gamma little sister, Roberta Zigler, in December 1970, and brothers gifted us a bed, which we were most thankful for. I graduated from Penn State in 1972 and went to work for SAGA Food Service. Things happened, and our marriage ended in 1976 without children. I moved to Florida in 1980 to work in the housing industry. I am now retired but vol- unteer for the city church and neighborhood association. Life is good be- cause of the foundation I was able to build because of Gamma. Strength through fellowship and love, and live Alpha Gamma Rho. Fraternally, Rick Steinmeyer '69 (Γ968) Thomas Steinmeyer '65 (Γ890) with his brother, Rick Steinmeyer '69 (Γ968). F ourteen members from the 1958-60 pledge and initiation classes gathered at the home of Jerry Lyter '59 (Γ763) and his wife, Betsy, in Millerstown, Pa., on August 1 to commemo- rate the class's 60th year reunion. It was a great opportunity for brothers and their spouses to re- connect after many years apart. Thirty members were initiated in 1958, eight of which are now deceased. A special thanks to everyone who at- tended, and congratulations to the class of 1958 for reaching such an extraordinary milestone. Lessons in Learning Jeff krantz '73 (Γ1026) ShareS beSt praCtiCeS to aDopt before StartinG a Job SearCh T he harsh reality is that no one will hire you just be- cause you want a job. Rather, people will hire you because you can solve their problems. How best to show what you can do? Document, document, and docu- ment—it important to archive all of your accomplishments, whether they are academic, ath- letic, interpersonal, club, team, religious, scouts, or work-relat- ed, volunteer positions, and the list goes on. Think in terms of numbers: num- ber of people, number of dollars, and number of units sold/transacted/shipped. Think about change: real number, percentages, incremental change, and aggregate change—document now. In a week or a month or a year, you may not have the necessary access to numbers that might potentially benefit you when you are applying for positions or are trying to sell that you are, in fact, the right person to solve their problems.
