Stimson '98 was intimidated coming to UVA without knowing a soul. This motivated him to go through fraternity recruitment and meet people on the Grounds. "It was not a forgone conclusion that I would pledge somewhere, but I had a lot of fun and quickly bonded with the guys at Psi Chapter," Ted recalls. "Sigma Chi gave me a much-needed social education that I don't believe would have been nearly as good anywhere else." Ted lived in the Chapter House his 2nd and 3rd years, followed by Ash Tree apartments his 4th year with several Brothers as neighbors. Some of his favorite memories include living on the third floor of the Chapter House with Sean Ozbolt '97 and a semester when the Brothers played a full season of Super Tecmo Bowl on Mike Flowers' '97 Super Nintendo. Ted also served as Quaestor and Annotator as an undergraduate and advises current undergraduates to find a balance between academics and social life. "I worked really hard to get into UVA, to the detriment of other aspects of life," he noted. "Thankfully, I found much more balance between work and play at Sigma Chi and was much happier as a result! Finding balance is a crucial life skill." Ted remains close to several pledge Brothers and participates in the "Damn We Miss Poindexter" fantasy football league, which includes a group of 18 Brothers who meet in person annually to catch up. His long distance relationship with Sigma Chi and devotion to the Chapter inspired him to give back by supporting the Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future campaign. "Psi gave me great friendships and a truly memorable college experience," he said. "I met impressive people from diverse backgrounds who have gone on to be really successful in life." Ted wanted to support the capital campaign, and notes that the renovation pictures look incredible. "The Chapter House wasn't in the best shape during my years, but without a physical house, my experience wouldn't have been possible. I want others to have that same chance, and having a Chapter House is essential." Ted encourages anyone who valued their time in the house to contribute in whatever way they can. "Don't worry about the amount. Every dollar matters and will make a difference to future Psi Brothers. Giving back is so important." Ted lives in Columbus, Ohio, where he works as a senior vice president at Rockbridge Capital, a private equity firm investing in hotels in the U.S. Ted and his wife, Katie, have a 3-year-old son and 4-month-old daughter. "With two young kids and a full work schedule, I don't have much spare time nowadays," Ted stated, "but I am an avid UVA sports fan in Buckeye country and have enjoyed the basketball team's resurgence!" This award is presented each year to House Corporations that demonstrate excellence in house corporation best management practices. President of the House Corp., Jim Moore, Psi '68, remarked: "This is not an award handed out casually and represents recognition from International that we have met the fraternity's highest standards for operation. The tangible results of our organization's performance are visible in the magnificent Chapter Room, social room, and outdoor terraces addition. We are now poised to raise money to renovate 'the old house'." Psi Chapter Receives the 2018 Gold Outstanding House Corporation Award
