(FACVB.) During this period, we received word that we received three industry awards. Readers of Conven onSouth Magazine selected the FACVB for a 2018 Readers Choice Award. Throughout the year, mee ng professionals nominated the mee ng sites they believe provide exemplary service for group events. The nomi- nated sites are compiled into an online ballot where mee ng professionals are invited to select the best of the best in the mee ngs industry. "The value in receiving this recogni on is that it comes from the United States' top mee ng professionals that hold events in the south," says J. Talty O'Connor, Conven onSouth publisher. The FACVB also received two Tourism Achieve- ment Awards from the North Carolina Travel Industry Associa on (NCTIA.) The Spring Lake Visitor guide received gold recog- ni on in the "Best Leisure Marke ng" category. The Republik from Raleigh designed the guide. In the "Community Stakeholders" category, the bureau's work in developing a local blogger network and holding meet-ups for community exposure was recognized with a Gold award. The purpose of the Tourism Achievement Awards is to honor and showcase innova on, best prac- ces, crea vity and results accomplished through the tourism industry's marke ng efforts. Judg- ing is conducted by CVB representa ves, meet- ing planners and marke ng professionals from around the country.
