October 17, 2018 www.DesertMessenger.com 13 What a wonderful relief from the summer heat…. now time to think fall events and Christmas too. Please consider being a Bell Ring. We start the Red Kettle campaign the day after Thanksgiving and conclude Christmas eve. You pick your times and days. Come in for an applica- tion. Love to have musicians ringing too. We will continue fundraising for the QPD Explorer Post #928 youth to attend a tactical competition. We recently presented $400.00 towards this program. Thanks for all the donations and purchasing of raffl e tickets. We will have another lap quilt raffl e that will end Thursday, November 8th. Tickets are $1.00 or 6 for $5.00. Let's see if we can increase the second donation. We will conclude the water distribution and collection program for the season. We gave away 720 bottles of cool water during our very hot summer. We have recently begun a Facebook page, Quartzsite Salvation Army Thrift Store. We currently have 67 "likes". Follow us and you can see daily and weekly specials. You never know what might be on sale. Check us out. We will soon post when we will add two more open days to our store schedule and change are hours. Still awaiting more of our winter snow- bird crew. It will happen soon. Any Star Trek fans in Quartzsite? We have three Trek autographed hard-cover books; To the Stars-Autobiography of George Takei, Imzadi, and Mr. Scott's Guide To The Enterprise. Beam on down to TSA and see. Volunteer, Christmas Carole, has been a very busy elf. I know it is early, but we have two sheds full of totes of Christmas items. We have a mini-wonderland that is being beautifully arranged on our Christmas porch. We are getting ready for a busy season. Come in and see us. Want a chance to win a $5.00 in store credit voucher? Come join our fun event in your costume on Halloween Wednesday and receive an entry ticket. Last year, everyone was a winner! The beautiful handmade lap quilt was won by Dee. She has picked it up and is so excited. Come see the new quilt we have for Raffl e #2. A reminder when giving donations. Please ask yourself," Is this some- thing I would give to a friend?" Thanks for understanding that garbage goes to the free county landfi ll station north of town. Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So, love the people who treat you right, forgive the ones who don't and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get the chance, take it. It is changes your live, let it. Nobody said it would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it. ~ Dr. Seuss Lee-Ann Henle, Manager Store 928-927-3636 Cell 360-921-7571 Store days Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:00-Noon The Salvation Army happenings QUALITY BEADS AND JEWELRY American Indian Jewelry Pottery – Beads – Supplies Gemstone Jewelry Black Hills Gold Jewelry Hardies Beads & Jewelry 1250 W.
