Gamma Delta Chapter of Sigma Chi House Corporation P.O. Box 247 Durant, OK 74702-0247 Address Service Requested The Sig Scroll S igma Chi's white cross badge is a unique symbol within the Greek community. It serves not only as a reminder of the Fraternity's values, but also as a reflection of them. Yet, the badge is not the only personification of friendship, justice, and service. From the moment Sheldon Detrick '58 met the members of Gamma Delta Chapter, he witnessed these exact values also reflected in his future brothers. Inspired by members such as Olympic gold medalist, Frank Lewis '36, Sheldon strove to exemplify the fraternal standards indicative of Gamma Delta members. He encourages brothers to remember their oath to this lifelong commitment and for prospective members to take note of this distinguishing quality. "Take a serious look at Sigma Chi because of the lifelong commitment the brothers have, as exemplified in the vast number of Gamma Delta alums who continue to give back their time and resources to the Chapter." Sheldon heeds his own advice by remaining heavily involved as an alumnus. "I'm a very active member and spend quite a bit of time at the chapter house coordinating the monthly alumni speaker series, visiting my grandson, Morgan Medders '17, who recently graduated, and my granddaughter, Madi, who was a recent Chapter Sweetheart." From hosting recruitment events at his lake house in the 1980s to chairing two pledge class reunions, Sheldon enjoys furthering his Sigma Chi experience with alumni and undergraduates alike. He served as chairman of the new Chapter House Committee in 1979, president of the House Corporation Board, Grand Trustee of the International Fraternity for 12 years, and founder of the Constantine Capital. Sheldon also oversaw the building of the gymnasium and is quite active with the Tulsa Alumni Association as the publisher of its monthly newsletter. He has been honored for his efforts and was named to the Order of Constantine, Significant Sig, and Distinguished Alumnus of OSU. The success has not stopped at Sheldon's personal life, but has also carried through to his professional career in the real estate industry. For 50 years, he has built real estate companies in Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas, as well as mortgage and title insurance companies. Through it all, Sheldon has maintained a strong balance between his interests and continues exemplifying fraternal ideals. "I enjoy working with Sigma Chi, but also serving as an IndyCar official and cheering for the Chicago Cubs." He lives in Tulsa, Okla., with his wife, Jan Jones Detrick, a Pi Beta Phi from OSU. Their daughter, Diana Detrick Medders, was a Pi Beta Phi at USC. Sheldon can be reached at sheldon@tulsaconnect.com.
