Throwback look at the Chapter House in 1997.
Remembering George Krieger '63
O
n Friday, April 27, George Krieger '63 picked me
up and we headed across the river to have lunch at
the Hofbrauhaus in Belleville, Ill. It was a grand day, filled
with beer, sunshine and happy stories of his possible retire-
ment to Boise Idaho.
Just three days later, George was riding his beloved BMW
GSR 1200 motorcycle between Augusta and Defiance on
Hwy. 94, lost control and hit the guard rail. George entered
Chapter Eternal on May 8. He was the beloved husband
of Christine Schoenecker Krieger; best dad in the world to
Kristina Krieger; and dear brother of Stephen E. Krieger
and the late Kathleen Daily.
George was a man who was passionate about everything he
did is life—wine collecting, motorcycles, travels, love of
railroads, and real good BBQ. While I had sincerely hoped
that I would be able to share another lunch with George,
I am grateful to have spent that afternoon with him. His
commitment to living his life to its fullest will remain an
inspiring memory to me. I will forever remember him as a
man that fully embodied what it meant to be a SigEp.
Fraternally,

It was a grand spring evening for a SigEp alumni
get-together at the recently renovated Anheuser Busch
Biergarten. John Mundwiller '70 and his wife, Gloria,
showed up first and the table began to grow with
Russ Wortham '71, Tim Brown '79, Mike Schmidt '75
and his wife, Sheri, and Dave Braun '79.
