6 school I played sports and took leadership roles in those teams. I was one of the co-captains of our golf team in my senior year. I was also presi- dent of our math club." When asked if anyone encouraged him to be a leader and to think bigger picture in terms of improving situations or helping others maximize their potential, he said, "My mom and dad set the example for me in day to day life. I learned, from them, don't complain how things are if you are not willing to go out and improve them." "I was always taught by my parents to be self-motivated," continues Andrew. "I was taught that nothing is handed to me. I have to work for it. I have to get it myself, otherwise, I won't get it at all. The world isn't there to give me what I want. I have to be a good steward to the world, but I also have to be responsible and take care of my own interests in order to achieve my goals." ALPHA SIGMA PHI – A PERFECT FIT! Now Andrew has brought his precise organi- zational abilities, people skills, and financial expertise to Alpha Sigma Phi's Mu Chapter. Currently he is the house treasurer. His love and respect of numbers will certainly bless the house. Last year he was the alumni relations director for Homecoming. This year he was the Founders Day chair. To Andrew this was an opportunity to give back to the house and grow himself. Andrew pledged Mu Chapter because he felt it was a good place to call home for four years. "I could see myself calling the people in the house my brothers," begins Andrew. "You know sometimes you get a feeling or vibe–somethings you just can't put your finger on. That's how it was with Alpha Sigma Phi. I just felt that it was where I was supposed to be. These were people I could count on. Now, in my second year, the house has become my home away from home. It has given me a family. The brothers have given me some of the best experiences of my life. I am exploring the UW and the whole college experi- ence with some of my best friends." Now a promising future awaits Andrew. And this man with a winning and genuine smile will enter it graciously, confidently, and successfully. 6 Photo by Bob Bronson "The house has become my home.
