Non-profit hospitals such as Marlette Regional Hospital (MRH) receive a variety of tax exemptions from federal, state and local governments with the expectation that they will provide benefits to the community in return. The following Community Benefits Report outlines programs and services Marlette Regional Hospital has provided for the fiscal year 2017. Marlette Regional Hospital is now debt free! In April of 2018, MRH paid off the balance of $6.8 million on the $13 million bond that was issued in 2001 for the additions of St. Mary's Seton Cancer Institute, the diagnostic imaging center and our Hospice Residence. Paying this debt off eight years ahead of schedule will save the hospital approximately $830,000 per year that can be reinvested in our facilities, equipment, staff and the services we provide.
