Gamma Phi Beta | 3 A Successful Spring Semester Alpha Xi Chapter Thrives in All Aspects of Sisterhood I t was a busy spring semester for Alpha Xi Chapter. From recruitment to philanthropy to scholarship, there have been a number of exciting developments in our chapter that we are thrilled to share with our loyal alumnae. FINDING VALUE DURING RECRUITMENT During recruitment school held the week before formal recruitment, which is a week of education and fun, we discussed what Gamma Phi Beta means to each of us and how to best identify these principles during our values- based recruiting. We also loved welcoming alumnae back to 3030 Daniel Avenue to share fond memories made in our home. We are proud to have welcomed and initiated a new member class full of insightful and dedicated members. CHAPTER RAISES FUNDS FOR A GOOD CAUSE We hosted the Pink Picnic on Wednesday, April 4, which was planned by Philanthropy Chairman Colleen Elliott '17 and Public Relations Vice President Elizabeth Whan '17. This event benefited Girls on the Run, which is a learning program for 8- to 13-year-old girls that teaches them life skills through conversation-based lessons and running. We are very proud to have raised more than $3,000 during this event. ACADEMICALLY FOCUSED We are also proud to have attained a top four chapter GPA, which is above the all-women's and all-Greek averages. Additionally, Scholarship Chairman Catherine Varner '16 and Education Vice President Claire Westermeyer '16 are implementing a new scholarship plan that rewards members for educational achievement. Many members are already taking action by working to obtain an internship or conducting research.
