(Mother Dominique Harroch '84) *Legacy; relative in parentheses H aving grown up in a female-dom- inated environment, Alexis Dalke '08 was convinced that she wanted to join a sorority when she got to college. She based her choice of houses on what she called the "cry test." "I could imagine myself on my worst day, running to the house in tears and feeling like as soon as I opened the door, I would be surrounded by warm, welcoming, loving souls who accepted and saw me for me, and who could help heal me back to my best self," Alexis said. "I chose Chi Omega because I found that there, and the sisterhood became my family." This new family proved to be an asset both in moral support and in Alexis's professional life. "Chi Omega was extremely helpful with vetting jobs and companies, practicing for interviews, shaping resumes, and even making referrals," Alexis stated. As an undergraduate, she held the offices of Panhellenic delegate and New Member Educator. "The most important thing I learned at Mu was that all of my sisters are highly impressive…and that includes me, too!" Alexis began her career in the legal field at Kirkland & Ellis LLP. During her first job, a friend encouraged her to take a project man- agement class, which she loved. Following that class, Alexis used her previous job experience and what she learned in her project manage- ment class to land a legal role at Google, where she is a program manager on the Nest smart- home products. While Alexis has enjoyed giving back to Chi Omega as an alumna, she encourages fellow alumnae not to blindly rush into a commitment. "I always knew I wanted to be more involved with Chi Omega after becoming an alumna, but it took a while before I knew how and when," she said. "I recommend taking the time to fig- ure that out for yourself and, in the meantime, keep up with email updates from local alumnae chapters. Then you can be in the right place at the right time to raise your hand and find a good fit." Alexis is on the advisory board for her local chapter of Nu Alpha at Stanford. Alexis lives in Palo Alto, California, and she loves to dance in her spare time. To this day, her Mu sisters are her best friends. Her advice to current undergraduate sisters? "You are enough." Her love of reading led to her involvement with the Friends of the Moraga Library and its board of directors. Ann and Donald were among the co-founders of the Moraga Country Club Swim Team and, from 1978-88, Ann was the director of swim operations. Ann's love of sports was apparent to anyone she met, and she was a member of the Stanley Women Attack Tennis Team in addition to being a MCC Singles Champion. The San Fransisco Giants, Cal Bears, and California Warriors were among her favorite teams, and if a game was on, you knew either her radio or TV were, too. On weekends, she quite often could be found cheering on the sidelines of her grandchildren's sporting events. She is survived by her daughter, Dana; son-in-law, Richard; grandchildren, Grant and Molly; as well as her brothers, Jim and Peter. Her husband predeceased her in 2008. Although Ann may be gone, her memory lives on in her loved ones and her beloved sisters of Chi Omega.
