touch and gives the home a New England cottage feel. e combination of dark shingles and metal roofi ng adds dimension and texture to the design. e color palette is understated, but light plays on the textures and gives the facade color and depth. "It's a Southern Living design," Lee explained. "Matt and Courtney wanted something very warm feeling. Something kind of Upstate New York. at's why all of the shingles are on it. It's done in real stone and smart board shingles that we painted, and it's all trimmed out in cedar. I have a wonderful siding guy. He's a real cra sman. You can see the corbels on the roof. He cut them all out by hand. It's turned out really great." Great is an understatement e home's interior is unpretentious and classic in design. Light colored, wide plank hickory fl ooring is underfoot. Shiplap covers the walls and car siding is overhead. e diff erent wall and ceiling treatments give the room a simple elegance. Wood slat blinds are a great touch and a window high in the ceiling's vault lets sunlight into the room and casts patterns on the highly polished fl oors. e warmth of the natural wood fl ooring is a nice contrast to the white-on- white-on-white color scheme. As with the home's exterior, the textures of the wall and ceiling materials makes a seemingly monochromatic room feel colorful. You want to reach out and touch the surfaces. One of the home's two gas log fi replaces is center stage in the room. e open fl oor plan of the fi rst-fl oor space is appealing. A dining room sits just off the entry and large windows allow natural light to fl ood the room. e kitchen is the heart of this home. Complete with stainless ermadore appliances, the kitchen is a study in form and function. "My favorite space is the kitchen," Lee said. "It's my favorite feature of the home because it's so open to the living areas. All the cabinets are by Verser Cabinet Shop of Rogers. ey are maple with hidden hinges, anti-slam doors and drawers. e kitchen appliances are all ermadore from Metro Appliances. We have a Tower refrigerator hidden behind cabinet doors. Everything is hidden." e only visible kitchen appliance is a piece of art itself. e six-burner ermadore gas range is a chef 's dream. A white subway tile backsplash adds another layer of texture, and the gold tone pot fi ller matches the pulls and cabinet fi xtures. e counters and island are covered in thick, white and gray striated quartz. A deep farm sink is a stylish and functional touch. A utility room and one of two laundry rooms sits just off the kitchen. Adjacent to the kitchen is a cozy dining area with a view of the deck and pool. e upper deck overlooks the pool below and is comfortable with plenty of space for a nice seating area. e pool is surrounded in natural stone and stamped and stained concrete. In pool seating is a convenient feature for a family with young children. Lee explained that the lot on which the home now sits was previously a deep ravine. Much work was done to fi ll the space and provide a solid foundation for the home and pool. e deck and pool are elevated enough that the trees below peek above the patio. It's almost like swimming in the treetops. A pergola, outdoor kitchen and dining area are welcome extras. A second seating area in the living space is open to the dining room and kitchen and off ers back patio and pool views. A second fi replace is fl anked by built-ins that provide space for storage and display. While the home is sleek in design and it's décor, one OZARK LIVING • JUNE 2018 • 9
