p. 3 Phi DelTa TheTa WELCOME, 2018 NEW MEMBERS O ver the past year, many great things have happened at IN Zeta. The start of the semester brought a large renovation to the bum room with new furniture and a home the- ater setup, providing a common space for brothers to hang out and watch games and movies when we need a break from studying. Thank you to both the House Corporation and the Parent's Club for funding this project. Those who were here some years ago may remember this as your Chapter Room (which with over 100 members, we've long outgrown it). Even with a new space, the Chapter's academics showed no signs of distraction, as we jumped two spots in grades to second with a GPA of 3.28. Indiana Zeta is now above the all-fraternity, all-male, all-Greek, AND all-University GPAs! A strong first semester carried over to recruitment as we gained 31 new Phikeias. This excellent effort was led by Chairman Jordan Watt '18 throughout the entire process, who ultimately delivered a fantastic new pledge class. Our varsity athlete brothers made the Chapter proud. On many game days, eight to 10 starting soccer players were Phis, including Doug Bannon '19 and Andrew Gold '19, who started all 14 games this season. On the gridiron, Hunter Sego '19 was the starting punter and averaged 35 yards, while also head hunting as starting safety. At the time of writing, the baseball and tennis teams (with captain Michael Kolbus '18) are just getting into their seasons. Including new members, about 45 Phis play in six different varsity sports. This year is marks the 150th anniversary of Indiana Zeta Chapter's existence on DePauw's campus. It is an amazing feat for the Chapter, and our current success paves the way for many years to come.
