SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY • OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY • SPRING 2018 Inside • Your Gifts Keep Gamma Delta Thriving ~ p. 2 • Alumni Update ~ p. 3 • 2018 Cowboys Football Schedule ~ p. 4 The Sig Scroll Extracurriculars, Greek Events Fill Gamma Delta's Calendar Derby Days, Spring Sing, and Mom's Weekend Successful T he brothers at Gamma Delta have enjoyed another great semester, including our for- mal in Austin, Texas, which gave us the opportunity to explore the city and cheer on the Cowboys during the OSU versus Texas basket- ball game. We worked hard this year, excelling in the classroom and the Greek community. Holding Ourselves Academically Accountable Last fall, our Chapter secured a 3.1623 GPA, ranking us ninth out of the 23 fraternities on cam- pus. Our freshman class finished the semester with a GPA of 3.1641, earning them a sixth-place finish among fraternities at OSU. Moreover, 17 brothers achieved a 4.0 GPA, inspiring all of us to continue working hard and to hold each other accountable. Updates to Derby Days Schedule Derby Days was held April 9-13 this year, with our fundraising goal being $25,000 to benefit the Huntsman Cancer Institute. We made a few changes to the usual Derby Days schedule, adding opportunities for other fraternities to get involved. We are excited about the potential for future Derby Days events. If you would like to assist us next year, feel free to get in touch with any of our Chapter officers. Greek Discovery Day OSU's annual Greek Discovery Day took place on Saturday, April 7, and Gamma Delta mem- bers were ready and enthusiastic about meeting prospective recruits. This year, Recruitment Chairman Garrett Griggs '20 and Risk Man- ager Jared Kuykendall '19 strategized and led recruitment functions, leaving all of us hopeful about our likelihood of signing another fantastic pledge class. Spring Sing and Homecoming 2018 Extracurricular activities at OSU are always plen- tiful, and this spring has been no exception. Gamma Delta worked with the women of Kappa Alpha Theta to put on an entertaining Spring Sing show on April 14. We are paired with Gamma Phi Beta for Homecoming 2018 festivities, and our directors have already starting planning our house décor and competition strategies. Casino Night Kicks off Mom's Weekend We hosted Mom's Weekend April 13-14 this year, and as always, enjoyed the chance for quality time with our mothers during the busy semester. The weekend included an awesome Casino Night on Friday, organized by Mom Sutton, and was a lot of fun for members and moms alike. Our Chapter has been quite busy with school and Gamma Delta activities, and we thank all of the alumni who make it possible for us to have these opportunities. We can't express how grateful we are for all that you do for us. Whenever you are in Stillwater, please stop by and meet us. We'd enjoy the chance to speak with you.
