10.75" 3 KAPPA ALPHA THETA H A lpha Mu kicked off the semester participating in Informal Recruitment. The National Panhellenic Conference initiated a pilot program on MU's campus for which average member total among chapters was not recalculated at semester. With many women graduating in December, this caused almost all chapters to be required to participate in Informal Recruitment to maintain chapter total. "Alpha Mu's first experience with Informal Recruitment was overwhelmingly positive," Chief Recruiting Officer Stephanie Rieger '15 said. "We were able to welcome five incredible new members into our chapter. These women embody Theta's values to the fullest extent and have integrated seamlessly into our sisterhood. We are so proud of our new members and look forward to their futures in Theta." Bid Day was in early February and was a wonderful day to welcome our new members home to 603 Kentucky Blvd. "I loved Bid Day and getting to meet so many girls who I knew would be my sisters for life," said new member Annabel Thorpe. "The entire 2017 pledge class came to take pictures with us, introduce themselves, and teach us Theta's signs. In that cute moment, I felt completely accepted by the sorority." The new members joined their pledge families the morning of initiation. All members came to 603 on March 10 to welcome the new members into our special sisterhood the evening of initiation. Alpha Mu is certainly lucky to have our spring new member class and also enjoyed reminiscing at our Founders Day brunch on January 27. Alumnae presented active members with a plaque that now hangs by the front door, listing those who donated to the capital campaign for our newly renovated home. Alpha Mu is so grateful for our gorgeous new home! Amid other festivities, Alpha Mu competed in the annual Rockin' Against Multiple Sclerosis (RAMS). The dancers took first place in the lip-sync competition, and Alpha Mu took third place overall. Four members were honored among Mizzou's 39 most influential seniors: Kati Kokal '14, Claire Kopsky '14, Hope Watson '14, and Becca Zeiger '15. All are so deserving of this recognition. Members loved Mom's Weekend with an afternoon at the winery and a night of dancing. Alpha Mu also enjoyed Greek Week with the men of Alpha Gamma Sigma and Delta Chi. We are thrilled that Abby Peoples '14 was one of the top 10 royalty candidates and that we finished in fourth place. Other upcoming events include MizzouThon, Mizzou's dance marathon for Children's Miracle Network, and our philanthropy weekend. We will have our CASA Carnival dinner and Capture the Kite, a capture the flag tournament. Alpha Mu cannot wait for our formal social and is excited to close out the school year!
