IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY PAGE 3 Steve French '07 Relishes in His ATW Experience A lpha Tau Omega gave Steve French '07 his first glimpse of get- ting outside of his comfort zone, and taught him ways to find common ground with people he barely knew. "My ATW experi- ence was just that. It taught me how valuable an experience can be. In my career, we create experiences, and you just don't understand the value that some people put on a free ticket for a child to attend a NAS- CAR or IndyCar race." Steve works at Texas Motor Speed- way in Fort Worth, Texas. He works with corporations ranging from lo- cal to enterprise-level on marketing activations that help them drive rev- enue, as well as their other key per- formance indicators. "I've achieved the Sales Person of the Year award for my company in 2016, and have worked with some of the biggest names within NASCAR and IndyCar from a personality standpoint. One of my biggest highlights, though, is helping create real memories for fans and clients." For the future of Gamma Upsilon, Steve hopes to see young men connect and develop meaningful relationships with those around them. "Embrace your discomfort," Steve said. "You don't know what you're capable of if you never get outside your comfort zone. That's what ATW did for me. I got involved and expanded my network. "Because of the Tau Talk alumni newsletter, Drew MaNatt '97 reached out to Mike Nelson '07 and Sean Clement '06, who were our president and vice president at the time. Drew's family helped finance the building of Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa, which is where I got my first full-time job after school. Drew introduced me to his dad, Brad, who then helped me connect to the team running the Speedway." Steve and his fiance, Mary Claire, live in Forth Worth. He enjoys rid- ing his motorcycle, attending sporting events, and working on projects around the house. You can contact Steve at sdfrench88@gmail.com.
