W hile the Delta Chi experience is certainly more than the bricks and mortar of a chapter house, our current home undoubtedly plays a significant role in the development of our brothers and as a proud symbol of our shared values and goals. Our chapter's unique history has had a direct influence on our current housing position. Below is a brief summary of our chapter's housing identity at KSU: • 1960s – Purchased the first fraternity house on Fairchild Street. • 1981 – Aer two decades of memories, the chapter suffered from low membership and lost its charter. e chapter house was sold to another fraternity with proceeds to be used for future housing needs. • 1992 – A new group of K-State students vowed to make Delta Chi an active chapter once again on campus. Chapter members occupied various apartments around town, including Tattarax, Royal Towers, and College Heights. • 1998 – Purchased an existing chapter house on 508 Sunset Ave., the first permanent residence since the 1970s. • 2008 – e chapter officially closed aer the large house led to problems and the chapter was unable to fill the property. 508 Sunset was sold to a sorority with the proceeds to be used for future housing needs. • 2010 – New Delta Chi organization installed. • 2014 – Purchased residential house at 1904 Grandview, which houses four of the chapter's average 60-70 members. OUR CURRENT HOUSE Our home at 1904 Grandview has served as an important role in our chapter's recent history. With significant investments made by the house corporation, the residential home has been an integral part of the chapter's growth and advancement in the past four years, but it no longer fully serves today's students. With an occupancy of only four men, now is our chance to look ahead into the future and grow our living accommodations. We have worked diligently to develop housing options that will match the caliber of our members today while considering the lessons we have learned from the large 60-man house at 508 Sunset. PURSUING EXCELLENCE Kansas State University is as academically challenging as ever and the need for an enhanced, quiet, well-lit, and comfortable study space within our facility is necessary for our members to achieve. We have all seen the impact of technology over the years and our new home must include the latest technology for the millennial students of today. Our plan will ensure that the chapter excels academically and remains scholastic leaders on campus and within the Greek system. THE CHANGING LANDSCAPE Over the last 15 years, the Greek community at Kansas State University has been evolving—much like the campus itself. With significant investments being made in on-campus facilities, our peer fraternities have seen the need to mirror the University by investing in their programming, facilities, and alumni relations. Since 2010, the following fraternities have made, or are in the process of making, major investments to their chapter house: e Delta Chi House Corporation at Kansas State University has engaged Pennington & Company on a preliminary basis to help us evaluate our likelihood of initiating a capital campaign with alumni support. Having ample experience in the execution of campaigns both at Kansas State and across the nation, Pennington has been on 145 campuses, assisted 765 house corporations, and raised over $600 million in support of Greek life. With such a pivotal decision, we must take seriously the responsibility we all hold in defining the future of our fraternity.
