Chi Zetagram 6 CHI ZETA GAINS SIX SPRING NEW MEMBERS Chapter Participates in On-Campus Philanthropic Events T his past year has been an exciting time here at Lambda Chi Alpha. We have had the privilege to be the first members to live in our new chapter house here at 209 E. Armory, and we've worked with our alumni to break it in and get things running well. We are saddened now to see an excellent group of seniors leave us; however, we welcomed many new members to the chapter. Fifteen men were initiated from the fall class and we are preparing to initiate another six members from our spring class, including starting Illini basketball point guard, Trent Frazier. Frazier, a true freshman, had a breakout season this year for the Fighting Illini and was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team! Overall, we had a house GPA of 3.0, with two members who obtained a perfect 4.0: Brian Vickers '16 X2181, studying Computer Engineering, and Charlie Van Dyke '16 X2171, studying Industrial and Organizational Psychology. In addition to our classroom achievements, the chapter has been very active participating in philanthropy events held by various sororities across campus. Recently, our brothers participated in broomball, held by Alpha Phi sorority, whose profits go toward childhood cancer research. This February, we held a book drive run by High Theta Tommy Suppes '16 X2162, a sophomore studying Engineering Physics. Chi Zeta members and several sororities came together and donated numerous books, which were distributed to various elementary and middle schools in the Champaign-Urbana area. Now, as the summer approaches, we will be turning our focus to planning for the upcoming Watermelon Bust held in September to raise money for our philanthropy, Feeding America. I'd like to thank our graduating seniors for all they have done for the chapter. You've served as leaders for the house and have given back to the fraternity in ways I cannot express in this letter. As you move forward in your lives after college, whether it be higher education or employment, I am positive that you all will have remarkable success in your endeavors, in part because of what we've all benefited from here at Chi Zeta. Lambda Chi Alpha at the University of Illinois will always be a place you can call home. The chapter also extends a warm invitation to all of our alumni to join us for Homecoming 2018 next October. We're planning to make it a very memorable event, and it's a great chance for you to both see your new home here at Illinois and to meet with us and to celebrate Chi Zeta's past and future. I'd like to thank everyone for giving me this opportunity to serve the chapter as High Rho (alumni coordinator). Thank you to all the alumni and those that donated their time, resources, and labor to accomplish the amazing new house and home for our fraternity, and to keep this chapter going strong. This upcoming fall will be a time of growth for our chapter. We currently have the newest house on campus and are looking forward to expanding our Brotherhood. I cannot wait to live in again next year and for all the opportunities ahead of us all.
