CALIFORNIA GAMMA PREPARES FOR BUSY SPRING Executive Council Gains Insight at Pi Phi College Weekend e are finishing up our second month as a new Executive Council, and I am so optimistic that the duration of this term will be carried out with an exceptional amount of enthusiasm. Our entire Executive Council traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, for Pi Phi College Weekend in January, and our experience bonded us deeply for a year full of exceptional advances. We learned how to work cohesively as a team, and also gained some helpful insight from Pi Phis all across the United States and Canada! The California Gamma Chapter was wonderfully represented with our entire team of 10 in attendance. Since then, our Executive Council members have been busy with event planning, philanthropic endeavors, and working on improvements to the way our chapter functions daily. Thank you to Sophie Fast '16, our Vice President of Fraternity Development, for planning our Founders' Day at the chapter house. Our Vice President of Event Planning, Cassidy Vida '17, has been working hard to promote sisterhood and safety at our events this year. We had our Masquerade Ball invite on February 2nd at a venue in downtown Los Angeles, and we have our second invite to honor our lovely senior class planned for April 21st. These events are our favorite opportunities to get dressed up and enjoy a night in our very own City of Angels. Charlotte Busch '16, the Vice President of Philanthropy, is in the midst of planning our Pi Social Spring Philanthropy event, which will be taking place on April 20th. This is an event that our members look forward to all year, and we are hoping to reach the entire fraternity and sorority community for this event in order to raise money for Pi Beta Phi Foundation. In other news, the California Gamma Chapter has recently been gifted with an extremely generous scholarship in memory of Joan Heid, a 1968 initiate. The Heid Foundation in Memory of Joan Heid Scholarship, until it is depleted, will support the awarding of an annual undergraduate scholarship and is restricted to members of California Gamma. We have encouraged many members to apply for the Foundation scholarship in appreciation for this beautiful gift in memory of Joan. I am incredibly proud of the strong leadership qualities that this Executive Council has already shown, and I am anticipating an entire year full of great memories for the California Gamma Pi Phis!
