SERVING IN THE LIGHT OF TRUTH Alpha Beta Excels in Academics and Philanthropic Endeavors T he 2017-18 academic year has been one of record-breaking successes and bittersweet lasts for Alpha Beta as we look toward a new phase in the life and history of our chapter. From academic excellence to philanthropic outreach, formal recruitment to homecoming fanfare, this Phi Mu chapter has the spirit and drive to make its mark on the University of Arkansas campus in more ways than one. Alpha Beta Achieves Record-Breaking GPA We met our goal of raising our GPA from a 3.232 (fall 2016) to a 3.358 (fall 2017) and over 90 women earned a 4.0 this past fall. This has been our highest fall GPA since our recolonization. With the new Chapter House, we will be able to personalize our academic success strategies with a 24-hour place to study, whether individually or as a group. Members Raise More Than $22,000 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Along with a record GPA, our chapter set a new record of fundraising for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals through our electrifying event, Miracle Man. We raised more than $22,000 for CMNH through ticket sales and donors. Our chapter will be dancing back into the spirit of philanthropy this spring through the annual Dance Marathon put on by Hogs for Hope, an organization on campus that our chapter works closely with to raise money for CMNH. The 12-hour dance-a-thon allows our members to interact with families impacted by CMNH and raise money for Arkansas Children's Northwest Hospital located in Springdale, Ark. Alpha Beta Welcomes 150 New Members The fall brought us 150 new members who jumped into our sisterhood with enthusiasm and dedication. Being the last pledge class to go through formal recruitment without the new Chapter House, their excitement for the upcoming fall recruitment in August is no less than those of our senior members. Recruitment workshops are in full swing as we plan and prepare for a new way of recruiting in a place that we can call our own. For all our pledge classes, the feeling of anticipation and pride is growing with every brick stacked on 792 W. Maple Street. We've always had pride in our sisterhood, but now we also have pride in our HFΜE. Thank You, Generous Alumnae On behalf of our entire chapter, we want to thank all of the alumnae who have donated their time and money to the improvement of our chapter. By investing in our new home, you have invested in each and every woman who wears the letters of Phi Mu on the U of A campus. This mansion is more than just a place where 85 women sleep for a year. It's a place where over 450 people can gather in unity and make memories that will last far longer than four years. We can't wait for you to visit our beautiful new HFΜE.
