4 Phi Mu Fraternity My Phi Mu sisters have a special place in my heart. I want to give back and give other ladies the opportunity to experience what I still have with Phi Mu. True to the Meaning, Spirit, and Reality of Phi Mu (Continued from page 3) with legs crossed in front of the floor-to-ceiling mirrors to put our makeup on and chat about the things going on that day. Also, we would plan our classes around our favorite soap opera, grab lunch, and either head downstairs to the TV room or upstairs depending on the soap you watched. No one was allowed to talk during the show except at commercials. Trick-or-Treat with the Greeks was a great deal of fun, too. We would dress up in costume and then community children would come to each of the sorority houses to trick-or-treat. It was a fun way to reach out to the community and be united as a whole in the Greek community. 4. Have you stayed involved with Phi Mu since graduating? Yes, I currently serve as the chapter faculty advisor and chapter provisional member advisor for Alpha Beta Chapter. Additionally, I am a member of the Alpha Beta Chapter Association. 5. What motivated you to support Alpha Beta and the capital campaign? Phi Mu is very near and dear to my heart. I would not change my collegiate experience with Phi Mu for anything. Even if I may not see or visit often with my Phi Mu sisters, I know that I can reach out at any time and they can also reach out to me. My Phi Mu sisters have a special place in my heart. I want to give back and give other ladies the opportunity to experience what I still have with Phi Mu. 6. If other alumnae asked why you were involved in the campaign, what would you tell them? Alumnae should be supportive of our collegiate Phi Mu sisters and give back like the many alumnae did for us. For Alpha Beta to continue success, the ladies need a beautiful Chapter House. To get involved in the campaign, it could be as simple as helping to reach out to other Phi Mu sisters to let them know about the campaign and help to contribute. They could also give to the campaign in as much as they can contribute. No amount is too small. Let's build this Chapter House together! 7. What advice would you offer to current undergraduates? Find your passion, set goals, and then work hard toward accomplishing that passion and goals. Go to class, because you and others are investing in your education. Additionally, research has shown that students attending class tend to have a better performance outcome than those that do not and there is an estimated average tuition loss of $433 per semester class missed (Kassarnig, Bjerre- Nielsen, Mones, Lehmann, & Dreyer Lassen, 2017; Latta & Lowenstein, 2017). 8. How do you think Phi Mu helped you become who you are today? The Phi Mu Creed is one that you can live out your whole lifetime. It is a good beacon to keep focused on as you navigate life. I am grateful for those words. I am grateful to all my Phi Mu sisters. I have gained new sisters through my involvement with the Alpha Beta Chapter and I am looking forward to watching the chapter's success.
