All- Star outfielder Melky Cabrera, suspended for the final 45 games of the regu- lar season and the division series, automatically received a full share with- out his teammates having to make a decision. Under baseball's joint drug agreement, he was eligible for his share because his suspension ended in time for him to be on the active roster for a majority of the Giants' postseason games, even though San Francisco decided not to use him. Under Major League Rule 45, he gets a full share because he was with the team from June 1 on. Cabrera, the All-Star game MVP, became a free agent last week and agreed to a $16 million, two-year contract with Toronto. San Francisco's full share was up from $323,170 for the 2011 champion Cardinals and $317,631 on the 2010 Giants. A full share on the AL champion Tigers was worth $284,275, up from $251,516 for last year's Texas Rangers. Saturday's Northern Section Division I final ended in a similar fashion as top-seeded Enterprise notched their third straight section champi- onship over second-seed- ed Paradise 36-35. Enterprise converted it when senior quarterback Zack Trueblood complet- ed a short pass in the flat near the Paradise sideline, which Izzy Matthews took to the end zone. "I felt like the whole time they'd go for two," Paradise coach Rick Prinz said. The game-winner came after Enterprise (9- 3) traveled 80 yards in the final one minute and 39 seconds. The first play was fairly pedestrian, with Trueblood convert- ing a 26-yard pass to senior tight end Brock Barr to get the ball to the Hornet 46-yard line on one play. likely to cause turmoil for a while. The ensuing play is That's because True- blood's pass, which was intended for Travis Hall appeared to be intercepted by Paradise senior defen- sive back Tom Hays. In fact, Hays came down with the ball, which if held up would have been Trueblood's fourth pick of the night and sent Paradise home with its 49ERS Linebacker Benji Whitmoore - Pleasant Valley, JR MediaNews Group photo by Rick Silva Izzy Matthews scores on a two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter of Saturday night's 36-35 heartbreaking loss in the Northern Section Division I title game. fourth championship in five years. However, Hays, the Bobcats' quarterback as well, was called for pass interference before he made the catch to give the ball back to Enterprise at the Bobcat-39 yard line and 1:17 on the clock. "We'll see it on film," said Prinz, on whether or not the ball was intercept- ed or if there was interfer- ence. Seven plays later, Hall hauled in a 10-yard touch- down on a fade route in the back of the end zone on the left sideline to cut the deficit to 35-34. The Hornets decided to go for two again. Trueblood, who had been tweeting prior to kickoff that he'd watched the botched snap nearly two months ago over and over on video replay, con- verted the game-winner this time to put Enterprise on top by one with just 25.6 seconds remaining. "Congratulate Enter- prise on a great game, I thought our kids played hard," Prinz said. While earlier Paradise (8-4) grabbed a hold of the game's momentum with 14 unanswered points in the third quarter, Hays and the Bobcats couldn't come through one final time on offense, as Enterprise sophomore Justin Abney intercepted Hays on third-and-eight at the Paradise 34-yard line. The final five seconds year, the team still has plenty to be proud of. "It was a battle all the ticked off the clock, and Enterprise was again crowned D-I Northern Section champs for the first time in four years. The other champi- onships during that span belong to Paradise, with the Bobcats finishing either runner-up or champ every year since 2008. Hays said while he'd love to have another title this way, a great game between two great teams," said Hays, who finished with 79 passing yards and 73 yards on the ground in defeat. "I wish it would have ended better for us." Paradise junior running back Jonathan Dixon led the way with 124 yards and 2 touchdowns, while senior wide out/tailback Johnny Porter added 72 yards on the ground, 52 through the air and two scores as well. WR Williams done for season with knee injury SANTA CLARA (AP) — San Francisco 49ers wide receiver and return man Kyle Williams said Monday he will miss the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his left knee sustained in Sun- day's win at New Orleans. Williams posted on his Twitter account that he has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the knee. Surgery would be the likely next step. ''Regret to inform y'all I will be out for the season with a torn ACL,'' Williams tweeted. ''Not how I saw things playing out. This is just another obstacle I will have to climb to get back. Look- ing forward to the challenge!! Love all true fans your prayers are much appreciated.'' Coach Jim Harbaugh provided no updates Monday, but did say it appeared Williams was hurt before any contact was made when his foot stuck in the ground. ''We'll see. We haven't got the final report and we'd wait 'til we get that before we brief Kyle and some of the others,'' Harbaugh said. ''It was a hard-hitting game. It took a toll.'' Williams and running back Kendall Hunter both were hurt on the same play during the second half of Sunday's 31-21 win over the Saints. Both were helped off the field and were soon after taken by cart to the locker room. They were injured on a running play in which Hunter carried the ball for a 2-yard gain late in the third quarter.
