We are having a great yard sale beginning at 8 AM. Our new Closet is up and running and seeking support from folks in and visiting the community. It is an extension of the Carol's Clos- et and is an awesome place that is providing clothes for young and old and infants too. We provide blan- kets and quilts, toiletries, smiles and that little extra that is needed by so many to get them through the week. We worked hard to maker Carol Kelley's dream a reality and she felt that anyone that needed a little extra help could come through the food bank door. It is now pos- sible for them to come through two doors. No one should be hungry, or need clothes and the basic neces- sities to get through a day. Thank you to Dana Beam's RV Repair gave $500 to the Friends of the Food Bank and it was matched by Happy Valley Pharmacy. Please come and support our fund raiser and help us to continue pass- ing it forward. My husband, sister and I were greeted with the most genu- ine smiles. There was such pride in this small building, and it was fi lled beyond its capacity. With the small package of bibs in hand, the vol- unteers and project manager Mag- gie Ross took us on the grand tour. Each room was fi lled with donated and purchased items in unbeliev- able quantity. Many were already bagged or hung, ready for the big day, organized in sections of chil- dren to adults. Much still had to be sorted and readied for use. I felt the small package we had just delivered seemed small in comparison, yet we were made to feel as if we had just delivered the mother lode! They will take all your donated items no matter how small. The Closet plans to have a yard sale for items not utilized, such as some toys to tools. Touring the building from front to back, I learned that they would like to start a children's learning and arts room in one of the larger rooms. From the Closet to the food bank we went. By jingles Jason will want to meet you. Jason is the head of this massive project. He is quite the asset for this community. I remem- bered meeting him in December when my husband and I took back- packs for Christmas fi lled with art supplies. He took the time from his busy day to personally come out to the warehouse and thank us. That left quite an impression on me -not to be forgotten. Volunteers hurrying around in ev- ery corner, preparing and logging items into the computer system. Others were in the front, packaging up a client's goods. If you have not been to the food bank, it would be hard for you to imagine the process. All items are cataloged in the system. Clients check in at the front desk. It is ran professionally for those who need a little help by few employees and LOTS of volunteers. I would like to say how honored I am to be a part of such a giving community. Oney Budge
