PAGE 2 TAU TOPICS A BUILDER OF CHARACTER Dakota Woll '12 Reflects on Tau Chapter's Immense Impact Throughout life, you are able to identify which events set your life down the path you find yourself on at any given point in time. In my life so far, joining Theta Chi undoubtedly qualifies as one such pivotal moment. A s the first child in his family to attend college, Dakota Woll '12 sought a community and support system to make the University of Florida's cam- pus smaller. While he had been recommended by a friend to join Theta Chi, Dakota did not realize how this first step would impact the rest of his life. "In many ways, I am the person I am today due to my experiences in Theta Chi, and I feel permanently indebted. For that reason, I will always work to ensure the success of the Chapter and the subsequent generations becoming part of it." During his time as an undergraduate, Dakota experienced the benefits of Tau's brotherhood firsthand. The Chapter deeply influenced his choice to pursue a ca- reer in law and provided the resources to do so. "I was exposed to a multitude of close friends who had family and friends who were practicing attorneys. It was through these people that I was able to more properly explore the career path and what the life of an attorney entailed." Once Dakota realized he had a chance to continue at the University of Florida as a law student, he immediately thought of becoming Tau Chapter's house direc- tor. "Having lived in the Chapter House for three years, I knew that living in the Chapter House again would feel as if I was home." While there is never a dull moment in his new role, Dakota approaches each ex- perience with a smile. He strives to provide a positive environment for the under- graduate members in the hopes that they too can find a family away from home. Dakota enjoys offering advice on how to become more involved on campus, better progress one's professional goals, and counsels undergraduate executive boards. "As someone who continually attempts to instill an interest in the fra- ternity's success, leadership, and importance of contributing to the University of Florida, I find that working with aspiring undergraduates and watching their individual improvement continues to have a positive impact on my experience as an alumnus." He encourages alumni to remember the benefits they received as an undergradu- ate member of Theta Chi. Whether providing the drive to succeed academically or introducing new extracurricular activities, Tau Chapter plays a large role in personal development. "If your experience was even a fraction as positive as mine, then you'll remember why staying involved and continuing to foster the Chapter's growth is so important for future generations of brothers." Ultimately, Tau Chapter provided Dakota with a series of growth opportunities and skills he continues to carry with him as an alumnus. "Throughout life, you are able to identify which events set your life down the path you find yourself on at any given point in time. In my life so far, joining Theta Chi undoubtedly quali- fies as one such pivotal moment." Dakota is enjoying his role as Tau Chapter's house director at the University of Florida.
