TAU CHAPTER OF THETA CHI FRATERNITY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA TAU TOPICS Spring 2018 THE RESOLUTE MAN Tau Chapter Hosts Theta Chi University S ince Tau Chapter's founding in 1916, it has proudly repre- sented the values of Theta Chi to the community through quality membership and strong leadership. Each day, our undergraduate members and alumni seek to strengthen the foun- dation set forth by our founders through their words and actions. Tau Chapter Hosts Theta Chi University On February 10, our Chapter welcomed brothers from across the region for an educational event pivotal to the Resolute Man pro- gram. Officially launched during the 160th anniversary conven- tion in 2016, the Resolute Man initiative seeks to increase both individual and Chapter-wide accountability to Theta Chi's core values. "The Resolute Man is a set of standards for defining what membership in Theta Chi Fraternity truly means," said Theta Chi Chief Operating Officer Ray Vanlanot, Alpha Iota '08. "Fulfill- ing the challenges outlined within The Resolute Man will allow chapters and individual brothers, alike, to experience higher levels of engagement and achievement. When a brother seeks to become a Resolute Man, not only does he strive to become a better Theta Chi, but also a better man." Members participating in the program are required to complete educational components based upon five areas: leadership and teamwork development, alma mater first, social competence and development, preparing for life after graduation, and Theta Chi for life as an assisting hand. Once each rigorous level is complete, members participate in a special ritual ceremony dur- ing their final academic term, where they are presented with the Resolute Man insignia. Tau Chapter is lucky to have received this opportunity to assist members in reaching their goals of a Resolute Man distinction. With Tau Chapter hosting Theta Chi University, the brotherhood has the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the values and accountability needed to thrive as a Brother. Undergraduate Members Strive for Excellence Ranking in the top 10 for academics out of all fraternities on UF's campus and assisting in philanthropic efforts across the Greek community, Tau Chapter continues to set the bar high. The Chap- ter initiated 35 new members and held a strong recruitment despite Hurricane Irma. Furthermore, four more members were tapped into Florida Blue Key, which is the oldest and most prestigious leadership society in the state of Florida.
